The Vatican announced this pope's first trip to America in April of 2008 a couple of weeks ago. He'll be visiting New York city ground zero and Washington DC. He''ll be 81 years old three years as pope then. So, this kind of press doesn't surprise me. Bully religion.

I'm Christian and I find this amusing. I knew the moment he chose the name Benedict he would be trouble. Benedict Arnold was a traitor, and the name fits Pope. No where in the Bible does it say that the only way to get to heaven is to be Catholic yet that is the claim he wants to make.

hmmm... not having belief in his particular sky-daddy is ruining the world!?!?! Has nothing to do with all the HATE, DISCRIMINATION, GREED, and the billions of other evil hateful things that people of EVERY religion and EVERY race seem to have towards each other...
Personally I don't find it amusing at all. I find it sad that someone who has that much sway would believe something that eternally stupid.
And I like your name. Even though I am not an Atheist I still like your name =)

I think he is wrong. This Pope has done little for the image of the Church. However, I'm surprised no one said anything when Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, of Church of England said America had lost its moral grounds after 9/11. No one talked about that but about what one man from Rome says everyone pays attention to. Is very perplexing.

No.
This is just them testing the water, seeing if it is OK to start killing us again.
Is there an evil greater than the Catholic church? They helped Hilter conduct the Holocaust. Northern Ireland. The black death. Crusades. Native American genocide. 2000 years of ignorance, torture and repression. Destroying works of ancient Greek and Roman art and literature.
No. There NOTHING funny about Catholics.

It's funny because he equates atheism with Marxism, says that Marxism is a failure based solely upon the communist regimes that did not actually hold true to Marxist ideals, and claims that the totality of them are evil and wrong (completely ignoring, I don't know, Hitler....)

The Vatican has been behind everything from the crusades, to the dark ages, inquisitions, they practically invented torture, to Adolph Hitler, and Stalin. I believe you can even trace islam back to being created by the papacy around the 7th century.
