All dogs shed at least a little. Some shed very little. These breeds need professional grooming and clipping on a regular basis or their coats will become long and matted. Some short haired dogs can shed a lot, especially if it is a breed with an undercoat. Ask any lab owner.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a dog that doesn’t shed at all. All dogs will shed and replace at least some of their hair, just like people do. There are some breeds that shed far less than others, however, and selecting one of these breeds can keep the shedding mess to a minimum. These are called none shedding breeds. Some of these breeds are Yorkshire Terrier, Poodle, Maltese, Bichon Frise, Airedale Terrier, Affenpinscher, Airedale Terrier, American Hairless Terrier,
Australian Terrier, Basenji, Bedlington Terrier, Belgian Shepherd Laekenois, Bergamasco, Bichon/Yorkie, Bolognese, Border Terrier,Bouvier des Flanders,Brussels Griffon, Cairn Terrier, Cesky Terrier, Chacy Ranior, Chi-Poo,
Chinese Crested (hairless), Cockapoo, Coton De Tulear, Dandie Dinmont Terrier,Doodleman Pinscher,Giant Schnauzer, Glen of Imaal Terrier, Hairless Khala, Havanese,
Irish Terrier, Irish Water Spaniel, Italian Greyhound, Kerry Blue Terrier, Komondor, Labradoodle, Lagotto Romagnolo, Lakeland Terrier, Lowchen (Little Lion Dog), Malti-Poo,
Manchester Terrier, Mi-Ki, Miniature Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, Norfolk Terrier, Norwich Terrier, Peruvian Inca Orchid, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Polish Owczarek Nizinny, Poos, Portuguese Water Dog, Puli, Schnoodle,
Scottish Terrier (Scottie), Sealyham Terrier, Shepadoodle,

Also for details I suggest to go see this site, these are the least shedding breeds, that is very little to none shedding:

There is a breed of sheep dog (can't remember the name) that does "shed", but the fur clumps up and it looks like it has dread-locks. Don't think you'd have a problem cleaning the furniture with that one.

I used to have a cocker spaniel, and she never shed, but you still have to keep the hair groomed. If you don't take care of the coat it will get matted.

I also have a jack russel mix, and she doesn't shed much either. And her coat is very low maintenance, it doesn't grow long.

The chinese crested is a non hirsuit canine and has little to shed, if you can live with the looks.
