In other words:

1) Can a person only know 1% of truth and still go to heaven?
That is: can a person believe the basic Gospel message and so be saved, yet at the same time know next to nothing about the Bible, doctrine, and theology?

(like an Afghan native who but once heard a basic Gospel presentation over the radio from Pakastan…repented and believed, but then died shortly thereafter…never having even seen a Bible?)

2) Can a person know a great deal of all truth (say, even 99%) and still go to hell?
This person could know much truth about physics, biology, philosophy, history, and even theology – knowing and even having memorized the entire Bible, mentally and intellectual grasping the basics of the Gospel, and rightly understanding more difficult doctrinal issues - yet still, at heart level have no faith in the basic Gospel message and still go to hell?

Finally:
If 1 and 2 are true, what practical implications does this hold – for Christians and non-Christians alike?

It's not what we know but WHO we know that counts. As the apostle said, 'I know WHOM I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him until that Day.' (2 Tim 1:12)

We believe Christ to be our savior and commit all that we have and all that we are to him, knowing on the Day of Judgment that faith in Him will grant us God's pardon. Some people have only done that on their death-bed. Some people have done that without being able to read. Some people have done that without having all their faculties. Salvation is not a head-trip but a heart-transplant.

A person can know 100% (if that were possible) of the truth and not make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. Christianity is not about "knowing" or "doing"...it's about "becoming" or being born again.

Entrance into the Kingdom is by birth only. You can't get in any other way. This method takes it completely out of man's control.

the only people who pass to heaven are those whose sins have been forgiven by using God, and whose names are written interior the Lamb's e book of existence. enable's no longer placed titles and banners on individuals that reason branch. some catholics are going to heaven on a similar time as others at the instant are not; a similar would nicely be suggested of all the different Christian denominations. it fairly is an argument of the guts, and basically God can see the guts.

A person can know less than one percent and still go to Heaven. All you have to do is accept Jesus as your savior, that's it. The thief on the cross next to Jesus went to Heaven, and all he did was ask Jesus to remember him. By doing so, he showed his faith and belief that Jesus was who He said He was. Likewise, you could have the entire Bible memorized, and if you never accept Him as your Savior, you will suffer the consequences of your inaction.

Even if he did not beleive in any God and remained a good human being all his life , he would go to heaven ( if it exists) . If he has repented his evil acts with or without the help of any religion , it would affect him in a positive way but before that he would have to pay for his misdeeds. That is the law of Karma . The Cosmos is based on Cause and effect. So whatever you do will accordingly affect you ! All religions are equal.

Yes and Yes. God knows the intentions of one's heart.

An unlearned man can believe the basics and live a good life and go to heaven.

An expert in scripture can use that knowledge to deceive people to become wealthy and powerful and yet not actually believe - and the Lord would say "I know you not" and he would not be allowed into heaven.

Who goes and doesn't go to heaven is literally a judgment call for God and God alone to make. As far as I know - He has never asked for, nor does He need my help.

Likely some non-Christians who practiced Christianity (ala the Good Samaritan parable) will likely make it in; and some hypocritical in-name-only Christians (ala "Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven") will likely not make it to heaven.

Other than that - 1% or 99% solutions don't interest me much.

1 ... the thief on the cross is a perfect example. He had no time to learn anything other than that he believed in Jesus.

2 ... personally, I don't believe it is possible for any human being to know that much of the truth. Hypothetically, your scenario is possible.

Implications ... No matter how much you know, you still gotta believe. No matter how ignorant you are, God loves you and wants you in heaven with him.

that is correct

though the beautiful thing is, someone who has the witness in them is gradually conformed to the image of Christ... this could take a lifetime... but during all this, circumstances just drive you to knowing more truth.

now if someone repents and accepts Christ as their savior, and shortly dies after, they are saved, but as if just saved from the fire. the bible says there will be those who suffer loss in heaven. this refers to things such as death bed confessions. these people are indicated as not apart of the church but guests at the wedding.

The answer to both questions is yes. The only thing required for salvation is to have faith in Christ. If person posses faith they will be saved. If they lack it they will not be saved
