I was a temp that went full-time - when I was a temp, I was paid weekly, and went to perm, and will now be paid every other week - I would think the difference would be immaterial, but someone said more taxes will be taken out, because that will put me in a higher tax bracket.

The frequency of your pay doesn't affect the total tax withholdings at all. Bi-weekly would be exactly double what weekly would be -- gross pay, taxes, net pay, etc.
