I am going for a root canal soon.
Does the jab before the root canal hurt? I really cannot take pain...
Does the jab actually go into your gum bones???

i guess you are referring to the injection of anesthetic.

if the dentist is good it shouldn't hurt. sometimes it feels like a pinch but once a little anesthetic goes in you feel nothing.

no, the injection is not IN your bone, it is near a nerve which absorbs the anesthetic and makes you feel numb.

dentists can use a topical anesthetic gel which is put on the area before the injection occurs. some offices offer nitrous oxide.

If you get the standard Jab it is fairly pain free as most dentists put a numbing cream on your gum... If you get the stronger jab it is more painful but endurable... (I have a fear of Jabs)

The root canal if al is ok will be 100% pain free however if something is not right you may get a very sore pain when drilling at which point have them stop and sort something out with regards to anesthetic...

I have had one root canal and in the process of another the first was 100% pain free with no complications and this one is causing troube as the root wont totally freeze (and hurts very badly when touched!) so the dentist is going to use stronger anaesthetic next time.....

Over all in any case it seems to be ok...

Good luck with your treatment :)

"Jab" aka: Needle, injection, numbing, etc??
Let's not think about where it goes..Instead think of what it will prevent during your procedure.

There is a topical anesthetic (numbing gel) that can be applied to your gum prior to the actual injection to aid in discomfort of the actual injection. It shouldn't "hurt"..you will feel a tiny pinch, then it's over.

While your dentist is giving the injection, relax. I know...easier said than done. Close your eyes, breathe through your nose, and relax your mind.

You'll be in great shape...Your dentist is trying to help you rather than hurt you. Talk to your dentist. He/she sees this every day.

Get a second opinion on the root canal...My dentist told me that a root canal is only good for about 5 years before they might have to do it again...Look at dental implants. That is possibly a permanent fix.

IF BY SAYING JAB, YOU MEAN INJECTION, THIS IS NOT PAINFUL. THE DENTIST IS NOT THERE TO CAUSE YOU PAIN, SHANE.
