How about Christmas socks from the dollar store? They are so cute, cheap and useful!

Don't buy each of the children something....BUT instead ask your day care center what they "need" for her room. That way every one can enjoy it while they are there...and it's still a very thoughtful thing to do.

My son's day care center had a Wish Tree where they listed every thing that the center needs (play dough, books, age appropriate toys etc) and parents who wanted to would select an item and give it to the whole class....it's cheaper that way, it doesn't offend someone else who may not celebrate the holiday, AND every one still gets to use it.

There's always the classic "plastic keys" toy. I've never seen a baby from birth to one year not love them. And you can usually get the simple ones at Wal Mart or Target for around a dollar. You can get them in pink and blue and use a permanent marker to write the child's name on the "keyring" part so nobody will get theirs confused with someone elses.

Honestly, the easiest and most loved gifts are homemade ones. Make cookies and put them in brown paper bags with ribbon and decorate the bag with stickers or glitter. Even if you can't make them from scratch- you can buy cookie dough at the store. Plus, everyone is trying to feed family during the holidays- cookies NEVER go to waste!!!
I did the math for my own and bags, plus holiday stickers, plus dough comes out to about $2 per dozen cookies in a bag. And they look sweet and they smell DELICIOUS!!
The gifts aren't for the babies- (more for their parents who can apprciate the gesture) they can't really enjoy much so young, but the older ones can still have a bite of a cookie. Plus, new parents don't have time to bake cookies!! They'll love you!

go to the dollar store and get the dollar toys but fdor the ones at birth to 1 yr, walmart has dollar rattles but you have to look for them and they come in red and pink and they are good rattles. if you have a dollar tree then go there cause everything is truly a dollar! but again go to walmart for the baby rattles you don't wanna be sued for a child choking on dollar store toys!

Rattles? They make cute ones that attach to babies wrists like little watches, and they aren't that much money.
