If a 14 yr old likes a 16 or 17 year old, is that too much age difference. I got held back so I am in eighth grade but he is a junior in high school?

YES! 14 is too young to be dating a 17 year old!

At the age of 14 a two or three year difference is enormous. You need to be at least 18 before you start having three and four year differences in age. (Simply my humble opinion as the mother of a daughter that always seemed to fall for older guys. She finally got the message, though.)

not for adults, but if you are a teen it seems like big difference due to development (mental & physical) but if you got held back you should focus on your work instead of the guy and also if he's in another school now he'll most likely check out the girls in his own school around his own class level
.................
*~ Oh I see, I hope you feel better hun *hugs* well I think if you really like this guy you should be friends with him until you're 18 & if you still like him then, go for it. Trust me you'll be doing him a favor because in one year he's going to be an adult and he's going to have needs that would be illegal if the two of you decide to do it before you turn 18, I'm afraid its a fact of life so for now concentrate on your work check out the guys closer in age to you if you want and remain friends with this guy, when the time is right he will be yours or you will fall madly in love with someone else by then :P

Yes That is too much of an age difference at this point in your life. (Obviously if you were 25 and he was 28 it would be a completely different thing)

A junior in high school has no business dating an 8th grade girl.

I was 14 and dating a 17 year old. Everyone was like "whoa" at first but now I am 17 and he 20 and we are still together. Just make sure to take it slow if you do get together.. I think that was the key to us staying together for so long.

For friends, no but for serious dating, you both are too young. Wait until you are 18 to start dating. You'll thank me in 10 years for that advice.

16 or 17? Even if he's 17 it's only three years difference.

Nope! That sounds like the right age to me. But remember , he will be graduating next year and from personal experience, when they graduate and you are a few grades behind, they tend to find young ladies elsewhere!

no, I dated an 18 yr. old when I was 14! Nothing bad ever came to me because of it. i think it's just dependent on the maturity of the person.
