Just an i.e for some of your answers on here... some TV's native resolutions are 720p and some are 1080i.... your will look best at whatever your televisions native reselotion is. Just another quick note, some games play at 720p on my TV while others play at 1080i.

I would leave it where it is. my TV supports 1080i but the PS3 looks better at 720p. It's a much clearer picture.
Our other TV has 1080p and that way better than 1080i and the 720p looks better there as well. just because ur tv says 1080, doesn't mean it's a better picture than 720p.

change the setting on the PS3 to 1080i... but are you sure you do not want 720p? many people prefer progressive scan over interlaces picture. The bigger number is not always better

First of all, try to buy a HDMI cable conecting your PS3 to your HDTV !! that is the most important thing...
Then turn the channel of your TV to HDMI (not VIDEO, not CABLE)
Try to change the settings of your HDTV to 1080p, and the PS3 to 1080p.
It should work. The UDMI cable is like this one, in both sides.
