They wanna know your ideas for your future in ref. to yourself and also to the company. They also wanna trace you psychologically... Eg.: If you say: "Oh, I see myself as a mother of 3" (you're the "family type"), or if you say: "Oh, I see myself doing my best to improve my knowledge and to learn and share with the company I am commited to... (you wanna learn and get to better positions)" or maybe: "Oh, I will be ok as I am (you don't have big expectations)" or " I like changing frequently (you may decide to quit the company from on day to the other)"...
Believe me, everything you say will be taken into consideration! So think well before answering so that you are not trapped by your own words!
God Bless you!

Is your life so uncertain that you have no dreams or aspirations. I am 68. I grew up with hundreds of nuclear bombs aimed at us. I was a child during WWll. I went through Vietnam, depressions, Korea, Gulf war, recessions and 9/11, the war on drugs the war on crime. BUT, I became a teacher and raised a family. You go on with your dreams no matter what is happening around you. Everyday is a 50/50 chance of being great.

Now we learn from the Bible that the Rapture will be May 21th 2011 AD.
Five month's* after, the Ultimate Terror: Judgment Day Oktober 21th 2011 AD
* And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. (Revelation 9:5)

The Bible is a Book that is absolutely true and trustworthy. It is the centerpiece, the keystone of this study.

do you have goals or dreams? They are looking for ambition. I may be spiritual and life is uncertain, but I have a dream and a goal for my life, I am not floating along. I hope and plan for the betterment of my life over the next 5 years. Most people dream of a better life, no one plans to fail, but most fail to plan.

Interviews are filled with stupid questions. They are setup, so that you have no choice but to make something up or remain jobless.

Like "Why are you leaving your present job/Why are you looking for a new job?"

Well, because I can't stand my boss and the pay is horrible. (But, of course you can't say that)

The issue is, what do you _want_ to be doing?

Everyone should be able to answer that.

Me, I want to be a published fantasy author within five years. We'll see if it happens. :)

I always hated that question. I agree with you. It is a worldly question that tells you more about the person asking it, than the person who answers it.

I agree, that is why as a recruiter in HR of a company...I don't ask that question.

Haha, well I guess the answer THEY want to hear is something like "Working for your company if you'll be kind enough to hire me" :P
