Not a whole lot. They are both red based colors. The difference is in the mixing. Burgundy is achieved with two primary colors alone...red and purple. Maroon needs one primary, and a secondary....red and brown.

Look at the source of the adjectives. Maroon comes from maron which in Latin languages means chestnut in other words brown; Burgundy good red wine or growing area hence, deep red.

They are pretty close but maroon is a dark brownish to purplish red color and burgundy is a shade of red with a tinge of purple.
