Aaron Pryor owned Sugar Ray Leonard and Ray shameless ducked Pryor, the intimidation factor was obvious all who saw their conversations. In the ring Pryor is measured by the Arguello fights, and drugs aside, Aaron was a force to be respected. Chavez was a cut above Pryor, both historically and in the ring. Both of them in their primes would have made a better fight than the Pryor/Arguello wars if you could believe it, but Chavez would have brought more into the match than Arguello did and eventually got to Pryor in much the same manner as he did with Meldrick Taylor. Pryor's heart and bravery would have been his down fall, much as it was with Taylor, but Aaron lacked the defensive finesse of Medrick Taylor, so the fight would have ended inside of 12 without the dramatics of the Chavez/Taylor encounter.
Pryor's granite chin wouldn't have been able to protect his ribs, and you can't train you liver to take a punch no matter how tough you are.
Chavez by KO inside of 12 rounds in an epic war.

Pryor was a monster in his aggresstion with putting pressure on his opponents wearing them down before knocking them out, while you had JC who was a body puncher and wore his opponents down with the consistant pressure. This fight would be a classic at 140. Pryor had more pop and boxed better than Chavez who threw punches from angles while JC would come forward. Chavez has proved he is prone to swelling and cuts and would get stopped in the mid rounds by Pryor's aggresstion who is naturally the bigger man.
Pryor in 8.

at 140 chavez was stronger and better than alexis arguello who was shot by the time he fought pryor. chavez would be able to take pryors shots and stretch him to the late rounds like never before. chavez body work would put pryor to test too. but in the end pryor was that good that he would have still prevailed in a all out war.

Depends........is Panama Lewis there asking for the "bottle he mixed"?
The 1st Pryor - Arguello fight is telling. Arguello laid all kinds of leather on Pryor. He damn near decapitates Pryor.
Chavez was not the head hunter that Arguello was. Chavez liked punching to the body and had the strength to wear down a guy like Pryor.
Chavez by late stoppage or decision.
