Questions regarding Islamic extremists or the Teedy bear questions, names and avatars??
I'm sorry, but, a woman's life is at stake here!
Don't you think it is cruel to joke about it?

Beez, I know that.
There is nothing wrong with the questions about how absurd it is.
What is wrong is to jocke about the situation!

Oh, you are so wrong.
It is ESSENTIAL that humans approach this situation with the tools they have available to help them understand it. This includes the use of humor, and nothing less than the history of humanity will prove this.
A contemporary example is the film Life is Beautiful. It is a comedy about the Holocaust. While the concept is anathema to many, the film is a poignant and monumental accomplishment to the memory of so many millions.

Islamic extremists, in my opinion, is the epitome of offensive.
Teedy bear questions are just that; questions. Feelings may get hurt, but the Islamic extremists (I call them terrorists), are offensive by their warped way viewing human life as something substandard. These terrorists cause much more harm than questions.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a no-brainer.

I agree with your sentiment, but not about joking.
Joking is effective, both as relief and to make a point, even if that's one of absurdity.
I''ve got WW1 cartoons drawn in the trenches,
(Bruce Bairnsfather's)
They could joke about it: perhaps they had to, to cope.
But sometimes it's entirely appropriate.
So, bring on the bears!
For serious comment, see the BBC website.
Their "have your say" page is struggling to cope with the astonishment and the outrage.
If this is Islam...

All I'd say is that American religious extremists are no different than Islamic or any other extreme religions behavior. Perhaps some have forgotten clinic bombings, assignations of Doctors, subservience of women to husbands because that's the way they interpret the Bible, killing of gays or disallowing them to enjoy the same privileges of American constitutional rights just because they believe their life is sin or against what their religion believes. Seems to me, that is what extreme Islamists believe also including subservience of women to man There are some segments of Conservative right-wing religion that are working to make America a theocracy regardless of the principles upon which America was founded upon and what beliefs the founding fathers subscribed to. Sounds to me like these are terrorists, also, if they desire to change our form of government.
Somewhere I remember a saying, "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." another, "Cast the mote out of thine own eye before you attempt to cast the mite out of another's." or perhaps the other way around.

Nah...
If we don't let ourselves ridicule the utter morons of society, we are then giving sanction to moronic behavior.
Muslims all lathered up over the name of a Teddy bear deserve any and all revile and ridicule that we can bestow upon them. So do televangelists, many politicians, California (you guys elected the Terminator!!! Yes you do!) (Scream Jesse "the Brain" Ventura at Minnesota if you are feeling persecuted), the folks who elected Chavez in Venezuela, and lots of others.
Pointing out stupidity helps us to repeat it less.

I personally don't find any of it offensive. This is the only way most people know how to deal with the situation. We can't do anything about it but talk about it. I feel very bad for that teacher and I hope her country does the right thing by stepping up and defending her.

It is not a joke. The Teddy Bears are simply non-Muslims way of showing the world and Muslims that they are wrong.
