? My mother calls me up because I am having medical problems and she says my doctor is a quack and does not know what he is doing. Her advice is ludicrious and crazy. I try to end the conversation as quickly as possible by saying "cya." She does not want me to hang up though and I do not want to listen her idiotic advice. If she calls me again then I will not answer the phone.

She does not think I should have root canal done on my tooth. 3 different, qualified, dentists recommend it. My tooth causes me pain and I have trouble sleeping at night. If the root canal operation is not done then I will still be in pain. She never gave me any "advice", but insulted my dentist. My dentist's name shows up on the New Jersey Board of Dentistry. If his name does not show then he does not have a dental license.

Buy an answering machine! start scanning your phone calls, i wouldn't pick up anymore calls from her, let her know that you wont be talking to her if she's goin to cause this kidn of drama about something as simple as a root canal.

When you do talk to her the minute she starts in with that, just hang up the phone on her quietly. Let her talk to her self.

go get your root canal, i know how much better you will feel i've had 4 teeth pulled and probably another one will need to go soon. But i'll tell you when they were fixed they felt so much better.

Do the right thing for yourbody

Hi hon... i'm assuming you are also in pain? A root canal isn't the end of the world -- i've had several... it's not that bad...

If you have an abscess or something wrong with your tooth, it can affect your health in other ways, so it's best to follow a doctor's recommendation.

Your mother is apparently living in the stone age... if she doesn't like root canals, then she doesn't have to have one!

It's YOUR mouth.

Without any intention to insult your mother tell her that you need professional help for your tooth problem and just do what needs to be done, have a root canal and then tell your mother your pain is gone. Make things simple.

Heck, I wish my mother was bizzare!! That would be a fun experiment. My mother is "Edith Bunker" all the way! Gotta love her but she certainly isn't bizzare......

I don't mean int he way your mother is acting, I think your mother is more nagging. Is she lonely? Maybe a good way to solve the nagging is to set aside one day a month for mom. Maybe two. Then she has something to look forward to and won't so much feel the need to harbor over you with silly things. It may not work but you can then talk to her and say mother your smothering me please save all the details for our visits so we have something to talk about then and I can get my things done and be able to keep my dates with you....

Then do your best to survive the two days knowing you have the rest of the month to live in peace.

This is really ambiguous. What is her advice? Is she saying it out of concern that you are either being lied to so that the doctor can pump money out of you or is she concerened that you aren't being treated when you need treatment? What exactly is your question? It sounds like your last statement is your plan.

I read your addition and realize its none of her business. Tell her its not open for discussion. You're in pain. Not her.

Don't tell her about your problems! She won't have any ammo.
