I think they are too scared of what the rest of the world will say if they actually tried to stop it. You are so right, we as a country cannot sustain mass immigration on the scale that we are seeing at the moment, and I see people posting questions on this site every day asking how they can come to Britain to live. Generally speaking they have no qualifications but still expect us to receive them with open arms. I've just arrived home after a visit to London and the graffiti all over almost every railway station was in a foreign language. The country is going to the dogs and I can't see a way back. When will the governent wake up and see the problems that are surfacing due to this influx?

It's all about greed going out of control. The immigration problems are really nothing new. It's been happening since this country began I'm sure. The scale is something to behold but one thing that I see is that the people that can do something don't do anything because they like the cheap labor. It adds to their bottom line. Unless we can control greed, I don't see anything changing.

It's ok for people to go where the opportunities are. However, not at the expense of laborers. These illegals are being exploited and it's costing law abiding and tax paying citizens crazy amounts of money that we can't afford. So much is suffering as a result. You only need to really look at what is going and talk to people, particularly educators and government officials in the communities most negatively impacted.

Because they are STUPID ...its quite simple really .Anyone who comes here for a free ride should be sent home, it has nothing to do with race or religion but how much money the tax payer can provide for them to waste.Nobody cares if someone comes and is contributing to the economy. The problem here is that they don't understand the difference between the 2 issues, so are terrified of saying the wrong thing. They say nothing instead, unless it is raised by an opposition politician and out pops the shout "racist". maybe they have immigration turret's syndrome

Very few people seem to make the correlation between huge populations, fast increasing populations and the inevitable negative impacts.

At our current pace (without any lame brained amnesty) our children and grandchildren will likely see this country with 400-500 million people, depending on future birthrate trends and our government rewarding people to breed. This will lead to a host of problems like water shortages, energy shortages, land shortages, social economic turmoil, etc. Even if we conserve aggressively it will not matter if the population grows faster then we can conserve.

Two of the reasons that our politicians continue down this path is because:
1. They are far removed from the negative impacts. They are generally wealthy so they don't have to worry about their kids getting into a school, getting good health care or having some private "space".
2. This continued upward spiral helps eliminate pressure on our ponzi scheme programs like social security. They continue to allow people to get money out of this system who paid little to nothing into it. If social security went back to the basics it would be in great shape. You get out only what you pay in. No more non-working spouse allowance. No more minor kids of old guys getting it. No more disability unless you are truly disabled. With welfare reform everyone went to disability (no time constraints).

And then we have the zealots who still think "Go forth and multiply" is a valid belief.

Because it's hands are tied by EU legislation and because it is plainly incompetent. This is a government that has no idea how many people have come to this country for work, has lost the details of millions of benefit claimants, does not know where it's own Party funding is coming from and has overseen the worst decline in public services this country has ever seen.

Culturally, America tends to focus on the short term. Businesses only see as far as the next quarterly result, workers only see as far as thier next paycheck or mortgage payment, and Politicians only see as far as the next election.

Even when a point about the longer term is made, it's usually just fear-mongering to get some support for (or opposition to) an initiative of some type in the short term.

Because the businesses keep demanding more CHEAP labour. And illegals are willing to work cheap. Permanent residents and citizens will no longer work for low wages.

Profits are more important than human lives in America.

We now need a high level of immigration to sustain our economy - after years of mismanagement, whereby only service industry's have survived, we are now reliant on immigration. its also forced and keeps house prices high, which encourages a belief in prosperity, which justifies the debt economy we all now accept.

Because they are purposely destroying this country and mass immigration just speeds up the process.
