According to Sri madh Bagavatham, there are 4 types of Bakthas. All 4 are equal in the eyes of God. They are,

Arthi
Jigyasu
Artharthi
Gyani.

This is explained to Jada Baratha or BarathaRishaba as told in that Sloka.

An Arthi is a person who only prays to God to ask for someting. An Artharthi, prays to God when he is in Trouble or Distress. A Jigyasu is one who wants to learn Truth about the Universe and The Lord and so Prays. A Gyani is one who Loves God and Takes everything he/she gets, both Good and Bad as a Gift from God.

A Person may show qualities of a Gani but when they go to a lower level of bakthi at any time that time is referenced and told that, they are that kind of Bakthas.

Now coming for examples.
Arthi is any one of us who prays everyday that we need this or that. Hiranyakashipu was this type. U can find many good persons also of this type.

Artharthi - Draupadhi, when she cried Govinda during Vastrapaharan. Sugriva at the first meeting with Rama when he waned Rama to kill Vaali, and so even tests the Powers of the Lord.

Jigyasu - Any Muni or Rishi. Modern day Scientist and Researcher.

Gyani - Hanuman or Prahalladh. When fire was set to his tail, Hanuman dint request God to save him. He thought everything as Gods will.

We cant differenciate a Gyani and a Baktha. Hanuman was a Grt baktha who was in the state of a Gyani.

Shri Hanuman Ji was Gyani and this thirst of gyan led them to join Shri Ram n become Ideal Bhakta od ShriRam. Whenever we talk about the great bhakta We only talk about Shri Hanuman ji but this must also be associated with gyan also.

I'd go with Bhakta. Sri Hanuman's primary motive for aiding Lord Rama was his sheer devotion and love towards the Supreme Personality.

Sri.Hanumaan ji was both a Bhaktha (Devotee of sri.Raama) and Parama Gjnaani---"Yatra Yatra Ragunaatha Keerthanam -Tatra Tara Krtham Hasthaka Anjalim(Bhaktha)----Bhuddhi(Wisdom) Madhaam Varishtam--Bhuddhir(intelligence), Balam Yasso, Dhairyam, Nirbhayatvam, Arogadhaam,Ajaatyam,Vaakpatathvam(elitist's talk=Gjnaani) cha Hanumat Smarannath Bhaveth".....In sri Vaalmiki Raamaayanam sri.Sita Devi,in Asoka Vanam.praises about sri.Hanuman's intelligence....But with all His Supreme Intelligence he was very HUMBLE....As is said in "Subhaasha Dhaani" :-"Vidhya Dhathaati Vinayam"=Real education (Knowledge/Wisdom) gives HUMILITY.otherwise such knowledge is useless tinsel.Sri.Hanumaanji was an exemplarary Bhaktha and Gjnaani.(very rarely we find in people such combination)---One can write pages after pages about sri.Hanumaan ji's Best qualities.
