Hi, Actually i took a o2 contract for my friend. and she was using the phone for quite long time of 6 months...now recently i came to know that she cheated me..she hasnt paid the bill for some time and they have black listed my name to pay a bill of £400.I asked my friend she says i wont pay anything....i am so depressed and i don't have so much money to sort out the problem. i don't want my credit history to be spoiled. Is there anyway i can sue my friend and make the o2 people understand that i didn't use the phone..please help me in this situation....cheers

You have learned a very valuble lesson. You NEVER take responsibility for someone else, unless you are able to take over the payments.

Unfortunatly, o2 could care less about who used the phone. The fact is you signed up for it so you are responsible. They can, and probably will, report you negatively to the credit agencies. There is nothing you can really do to stop that.

But this does not stop you from suing your(probabably ex)friend. Depending on the exact laws you may also be able to sue her for any damage it caused you because of the negative credit, such as higher interest rate or being declined. But for that part you need to check on your exact laws.

Since the phone was in your name, I am sorry, the charges are on you. The only thing I suggest you do it pay those charges, then sue the cheater for the money. If you just let it ride, and not pay it, it will affect your standing with the company. Meaning, it could go on your credit, if left unpaid. I am sorry you are going through all this. Next time, tell your mate to get her own phone or buy her a prepaid. This type of things happen everyday.

Dont think theres anything you do, i no its harsh but its your own fault for puttin it in your name. It was a bit of stupid thing to do! Sur theres no way u can prove you didnt have the phone, its in your name & thats all they care about. You'll just have to pay it yourself im afraid

was the phone in your name?

If so, you are liable, she could do you a favour by paying it, but she does not have to as it is not her responsibility, of course, her paying it would be the moral and decent thing to do.

Come to an arrangement with the phone company and deal with your friend in another way.
