We don't need to believe in the angry, menacing God caricature created by Fundamentalists nor do we need to turn the Bible into idolatry as they do. All we need to do is accept Jesus as our Savior, repent for our sins and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Although Fundamentalists want the world to think they have a monopoly on God, they do not. There are many other Christians and our faith in God is just as real, true, uplifting and blessed.

He did not flood the earth and then be apologetic approximately it! Please get your data quickly. human beings are made in God's photograph so as that scriptures that say "replace into imitators of Him" could make experience. we've been made as loose ethical brokers, with a ability of reason and the flexibility to enhance and stay by using the traits stated at Gal 5:22. The Bible says: Be wrathful - yet do not sin. It of course shows that wrath might properly be perfect - yet unlike in human beings avenging themselves on the instant. Jesus had a passionate anger for the dwelling house of God - he chucked the money mongers out of the temple - not a extra healthful of rage - a fervour for righteousness.

Ultimately, Jon, I think that ALL our ideas about God are caricatures. Some aspects greater than others.
But I do believe that the Living Lord is not to be found in doctrine so narrowly defined that it doesn't allow for the unexpected. For me, God takes delight in me embracing the unexpected movement of the Holy Spirit.
In my belief, and I call myself Christian, the Holy Spirit can lay to waste all of the doctrine of all the religions in a blink of an eye. The movement of the Living God, in my life, supersedes all doctrine. And there's a definite liberating joy in that idea.
I believe that God rejoices when I seek him out in new and unexpected ways.
peace respect regards

The Holy Spirit does the work of revealing God. We understand him, his character as much as we can because the Holy Spirit opens it to us.
If a sincere heart comes to God and accepts him, God in the Holy Spirit will not give a false image.
Therefore the matter of faith is of the heart, and those who reject Jesus in their heart are subject to eternal separation from him ( the living God of the universe whom you wrote of).

good point. I believe that too. that too many people push their idea of God and don't understand its just their idea and not the real thing. So if you reject a picture of God instead of God himself, I dont think that will send you to hell.

If I say I don't believe you have 3 eyes, I am not rejecting you. I am merely rejecting a rumour profiling you. But what if you really have 3 eyes? I'm still merely rejecting the rumour, not you.

Most fundamentalists want God to serve them, and they merely pay lip service to serving God.
This is evident in their liturgies, their sermons, and their interpretation of Scripture.

When people get tired of following themselves, by their own leadership---Jesus will still be waiting--with open arms---to give them what they could have had ALL THEIR LIFE.
Jesus is AWESOME!!!
