I suspect that many of them don't care what the issue is, or what happened or who is involved. They see a non-Muslim as an outsider, and would probably call for her death no matter what she did. So those ones are probably to be considered extremests.

I think it is the whole 'war against terror' and the war in the Middle East is what's inflaming the situation and increasing tension between Muslim and the west.
For those can not do whole lot about it, things like a teddybear can be a good tool to raise thier voices.
