I lost 10 pounds in a month which is what I wanted.
I basically went to the gym, walked/ran on a treadmill for 10-20 minutes or until I was sweating really hard. Then I would hit the weights (low weight, high reps) for about an hour. I did this for 4-5 days a week consistently.
Also, drop the sodas and fast food mostly. Drink lots of water and eat at home, but watch your portions. Don't eat all of your food, only stop eating once you're full. And try to find more active things to do.

Five pounds is just under healthy. You should be able to lose 2 pounds a week.
There's the old eat-less-exercise-more plan, and I assume you've tried that.
I lost 30 pounds on the slim-fast program. As a busy mom, I don't usually want to stop what I'm doing to get lunch. So if lunch and breakfast are already made...and then I'd have a slim-fast snack or another shake around 3-4pm. I felt it was very effective.

Your eating the wrong foods and not exercising enough.
Get a plan started. Once you start yur plan your stomach will growl and that's normal, but you have to stick with your plan.
Eat three meals a day.
Exercise at least 30 min a day walking or treadmill.
Drink lots of water.
Stay away from sweets and candy. Only eat natural sugars like oranges, Apples, Peaches...ect
Stay away from fried foods.
bAke your chicken or boil it and don't eat the skin.
Eat watered strained tuna. Stay away from breads as much as possible,.
You have to change your diet around in order to lose weight.

Fasting is the fastest way to lose weight. I once knew someone who lost her obesity by fasting for three months straight (or so she claimed.)
Fasting is done by many people for religious and/or health reasons. I don't recommend that you fast solely for the reason of losing weight, although that will work.
The best way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise regularly.

Eat healthier foods, work out, and drink water instead of flavored drinks. Keep away from foods which are high in sodium because salt makes you retain water (bloating). You need to count your calories. A lot of times people don't realize how much food they are actually consuming.
