once again i need to ask about the tolerance levels of muslims. it's funny...i just recently asked a similar question about why islam is such an intolerant religieon, and then this article about a teddy bear named muhammed popped up. and, of course, it has enraged the muslim community to the point that they demand an execution, because that is viewed an insult to islam. lol...i swear i can't help but look at the muslim community as acting like immature spoied little brats who can't take getting their feelings hurt. if islam is so peaceful and tolerant a religion; and if it is only the fanatics that are the ones that are demanding "death to the infidels," then where the hell are the moderates to condemn this sort of sophomoric behavior? i get the feeling that either they deep down inside agree with radicals, but feel to guilty to voice it. or they actually do disagree, but would rather look the other way. tsk tsk tsk.

nathan (and anyone that wants to make this argument) there is a difference about expressing one's opinion about an issue by standing around with placards, and thousands of protesters with weapons demanding death to someone becasue they feel insulted. so don't give me that b.s.. even as radical as those anti-abortion people may be, i find it hard to believe most of them would willingly kill a worker of an abortion clinic in cold blood.

another thing too...i understand that there are many sides to an issue. and i am not trying to generalize. but people come on! it's a freakin' teddy bear!!! and before, it was a freakin cartoon!!! and before that it was a freakin movie!!! people got there throats slit over these things! explain to me how this is the sign of a peaceful religion. nobody has answered that yet. i don't see violent protests to the quantity or level that these protests reach. it's ridiculous!

to BUFF- yeah yeah yeah...that is the type of cypher-style language that has gotten the religieon of islam to where it is today. written so poetically vague that it is open for misinterpretation. just like the radicals like it.

Have you ever seen protesters outside an abortion clinic? Or heard tele-evangelists rant on TV. Every religion has radicals. It's easy to point at others.

We live in a media driven world. I doubt the average Sudanese citizen gives a damn about the bear, the teacher, or us for that matter. But if some guy gives them 2 bucks to go and holler in front of the cameramen, you can bet they will be holleren. The Rush Limbaugh's of the third world have done a better job of convincing their citizens that their culture is under attack.
I'm truly sorry that you feel the way you do. I'm Jewish, but I have many Muslim friends and in our discussions I have never felt intolerance. I know that my friends don't represent the entirety of Islam. I also know a lot of intolerant bible thumpers, but i"m not ready to condemn Christianity because of them.

The court found the teddy bear teacher guilty and gave her 15days in prison rather then 40 lashes and 6 months, what she originally could have had.

Lot of stuff is just culture in the name of Islam. Those people think they are acting in the interest of Islam when they themselves lack proper islamic education.

Britian Muslims were the first to condemn this and demand the teacher be set free and called it nothing more than misunderstanding.

As one poster above has said, West got too much of their dirty hands in Sudan and there is too much suffering there. have you forgotten the genocide of darfur that is going on in sudan? Western powers are showing their deeds there that they show in other 3rd world countries. The locals are oppressed and suffering and not happy, they will attack anyone that says anything against Islam, even if its a minor misunderstanding.

Understand the situation of the people and you'll understand their reasoning and actions. It has nothing to do with islam.

I am a muslim. I consider myself to be a nice normal British citizen which is why this question has areally annoyed me. I am totally against what is happening to that poor teacher and like all the other muslims in my community I agree with what the British Council of Muslims said on the news. that Sudanese law is ridiculous. my local mosque has already started a petition. I am sick of being blamed for other peoples mistakes, so please do some research next time before you start talking on the behalf of the average muslim.

Yes i think execution is rather harsh but they do have a reason to be mad. If someone was to name a little stuff animal, God, i would be mad too. People need to realize that this woman came from a different country and insulted their religion that she probably knows nothing about. Muslims will do anything to protect their religion. She shouldn't have been there in the first place, thatis my opinion. Sheis like sticking her fingers in the lion's cage trying to not get bitten but keeps putting her fingers in there.

I hate to say this because I find myself growing more intolerant of muslims, islam, etc. daily, but Ignorance and Intolerance go hand in hand. I do believe muslims are an ignorant lot as well as very angry. I get the sense that muslims are struggling with their belief as they watch their religion unravel and prove to be more fiction than fact. These people ,maltreat one another, how could we possibly believe they would act any different toward a non-muslim? Sometimes I wonder if the next great war won't be muslim verses non-muslim??? Just a thought.

If you keep watch Fax channel or thier website, that is mostly what you get: intolerant religion of Islam or the Moderates who are quite.

Furthermore, it's usually the negative news that are spread and broadcast.

You need to dig other sources if you want to see the whole picture. for example do read

bbc.com, aljazeera.com or islam.org?

Everyone should read the link webwalker posted...this may change your view of Muslims drastically. This isn't the thoughts or actions of a select few radicals. It is ingrained in the Islamic culture.

not only have you been led into hatred, you are calling others to follow you!

your opinion of this thing that you do not have a definition for called 'Muslims' is low, this indicates weakness -so let me now prey on your weakness too!
I tell you, not because I believe it, but because you do,that your 'Muslims' will not listen to you they will start a war with you rather than listen to you and your fear is going to allow that to happen you have been tricked into using your love for your fellow man against your fellow man and you don't even see it - many have fallen for it hook line and sinker but you have sounded the battlehorn, there it is above in black and white - your question , all lovely and neat, intelligently presented, and grammatical - your fine intellect a battlehorn toward hatred....

STOP!

It seems that God was kind of offended that Abraham and Sarah didn't trust Him to provide them with a son. So, Sarah took matters into her own hands and gave her hand-maiden to her husband so he could lay with her and conceive an heir. God being God let Sarah have her way and allowed this unsanctioned union to result in the birth of Ishmael. Sarah, being female, got jealous even though it was her scheme in the first place and wanted this hand-maiden and her son gone when she was blessed at the age of 90-something with the birth of a son, Issac, whom God had promised to establish His Covenant. Abraham didn't want his wife upset, so he sends this hand-maiden and her son away. God, being a just entity, was offended that Abraham would cast out his own blood; therefore, He promised Ishmael would become a mighty nation that would reek havoc with God's Chosen People.

So. Once again. God punished the world because of the sins of the father. First we get it because of Adam and Eve. Then we get it because of Abraham.

So. Considering the history. I would say that the analogy of an out of control, spoiled brat is close to what one would expect from a neglected child rejected by his father and cast out into the desert to die with his mother.
