My two year old son just SAT in the Christmas tree...;0)

We had to actually tie the tree to the wall.

Any suggestions?

Last year when our son was only 14 months old at Christmas time we never seemed to have much trouble with him touching the tree but now he is over 2 (and our youngest is 1) we almost decided not to put it up (but that would be sad with kids) so I put it in a corner of our lounge room and barricaded it with two sofas, so all you see is the middle and top half of the tree, with only a few decorations placed very carefully away from little hands. 2 year old has managed to pull a few baubles off, I find them on the floor occasionally, lucky they haven't smashed. 1 year old pushes toy cars through a gap and they have all gathered underneath! I won't be putting any presents there until Christmas Eve - wouldn't see them under there anyway.

We used to have a cat - the damage she caused was even worse! It was like a kitty wonderland for her and baubles would be smashed everywhere.

Happy Christmas!

first off miss sunsets and roses is obviously not a parent...lol...i have 4 year old twins and let me tellya....it is almost impossible to keep them out of it...we have gone the way of just decorating the bottom half and also the smaller tree on the table the last two years...now this year its just on for us they can reach the whole tree and get it if its on the table...lol sooo we just keep telling them that if they hurt the tree santa wont come and so far it has worked we explained that santa love a nice decorated tree and if they pull off or break the ornaments he just wont come....now this has worked so far...but then the tree has only been up 2 days so we will see how long it lastsso good luck and with the two year old id just do the top of the tree ..have a great holiday....

LOL - I have had my christmas tree tied to something for going on 20 years! (My oldest is 20 and my youngest is four.....and throw a Great Dane in there who has a tail that is the equivalent of a deadly weapon.....the poor tree doesn't stand a chance!)

How can you keep him out -- lol you CAN'T! Just like you can't keep the cat from climbing it, or the dog from hiking a leg on it (my friend has this problem lol )........your tree is the newest and neatest toy in the house! Eventually he will get bored with it........probably about the time you are dragging it out the door to the curb!

Smile and enjoy......my first tree attacker is now a college junior....some days I'd give anything to have her back at an age where sitting in the tree was fun!

My son will be 2 in February, and we put our tree up anyway, too. He keeps taking the ornaments off, throwing them down, and saying 'uh-oh!' like they fell off on their own.

My solution is to just put non-breakables at the bottom half and hope for the best! I tell him not to touch, and when he does the result is that we unplug it and the lights go out. He hates that, and it keeps his fingers off for a few hours.

Last year we used a table top tree. It was about 2 1/2 feet, and we put it on his changing table, which is in the living room. We hardly ever used the table anyway.

I also have a 2 year old son! He has tried to grab the ornaments off, but I have been telling him no and he is doing pretty good, he did crawl underneath the tree at one point and the tree started swaying- UGH! But he knows, and when I scold him for grabbing at it, he backs off pretty quickly. I just stay firm and say NO!

Well when mine was that age, we had a kitten to go along with it and that was tons of fun, the whole Christmas tree and all of the ornaments came tumbling down.

We gave the cat to the neighbor .Kids like the decorations and like something new, especially when you turn your head, its just alot of repetition, mine is 14 now, he is into everything on the computer now.

I didn't bother to put one up last year and this year. My daughter just turned two. There is just no way I can handle putting the ornaments on the tree while she's on the other side taking them off. Or better yet run off with them and putting them in her toy box.
