What I mean by that is, you wouldn’t throw pears before a pig because they’re of no use to them, they’ll just throw them in the mud, in the same way, we are trying to tell others about God by teaching what it says in the bible, but it’s of no use because they’ll just stomp on it and say they don’t care. Rather than teaching them the word, we should act it, and once they notice that we’re different than other people, that there’s something better in us then the non-believers, wait for that opportunity to tell them what’s different about you and THEN tell them about the word. I know we all get tired of people mocking God, but that can all stop once we start “walking the walk” instead of “talking the talk” (stupid phrase but oh well.)

WHATEVER! Every time atheists see a "grammar" mistake or misspelling all you reply with is "you spelled that wrong!!" or "There's no consonant in that word!" get over it.

Thomas: Why are you telling me how to answer the question when I'm the one who asked it?

Dear Irish,

You are taking the verse out of its context. (dont feel bad. most christians do on this verse)

The context is talking about christians have disputes. And not getting along with ones christians brother or sister.

It has NOTHING to do with witnessing to the lost. For some reason christians have been missusing this verse for what seems to be forever.

The proper context is: When christians are being hypocritical and not practicing non-judgemental behavior then it is the CHRISTIAN who is casting "pearls before swine" by bringing reproach to the name of Christ.

As you can see, it has NOTHING to do with witnessing. (or people rejecting the gospel). I think many christians just missuse this verse to get out of witnessing to people. (people, that Christ died for)

Remember, when "isolating" verses: CONTEXT is KING.

P.S. When I say "non-judgemental behavior", I am NOT talking about being discerning in DOCTRINE. That we must be.

Even in walking that walk, there is a time of testing and poving. You will really be able to see where your belief lies when a bum comes up to you and asks you for a meal. Or when a dug addict pulls his/her shpeel on you and tries to get money out of you. Bringing it closer to home, when someone in your own congregation has a problem paying for the light bill and the church board has to vote to see if they can write the power company a check. Or if after the morning service and then the church lunch what is being done with the left over food that is going into the trash instead of making sure that a needy family is getting it instead. The test of that phrase comes when we really take the extra effort and simply hug someone that is a grouch. Smile at some one and tell them have a nice day when we oursleves are grouchy. When we put aside our personal preferences and reach out to another "comfort zone" and do what we should instead of what we want. EVEN then we are going to get bit, trampled on, ridiculed and mocked. What will we do then? Give up and say I am just throwing my pearls before swine? No Sirriee! I WILL keep on keeping on and do the justice that is deserving of my belief in Jesus Christ! Those that want to know will come and ask. Those that don't? Well, I love them too. i just have to be more wise in my desicion making.

God Bless.

What you say is true and probably all seriously religious people are offended by negative responses but you know full well that the Word of God is "not" preached in vain therefore all will be held accountable and maybe by this God's wrath will be justified (in that day). Be of good cheer...the end is near.

the best way to handle answering questions here is to choose the questions wisely. There are many people who come here to mock and scoff at religious believers, however, there are quite a few people, believers or not, that are actually trying to learn more about other ways of thinking. Many times you can sense a tone or demeaning attitude that suggests any answers will be given in vain. I would suggest you carefully read the questions and consider the source of the question to allow you to spend your answering time more wisely.

First of all, it's PEARLS not pears.

Second, it is our job as assigned by Christ Jesus to make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of The Father and The Son and the Holy Spirit...

By teaching what The Bible says, even if it is stomped on and ignored, is our duty to God. Likewise, for those of us that takes The Great Commission serious, we are different and we are noticed by our fruits. We do share our testimonies and we do win people to the heart of God. We walk the walk AND talk the talk.

pearls, not pears. But in any case. I agree, not that Christians are better as you stated but that you should live the life and not just mouth off about it. Actions speak louder than words and typically it is the Sunday morning Christians that seem to be the loudest.
