Absolutely! Great question. Thanks for putting that into perspective.

You could, but could you find 1000 people in America that would kill you for sewing an American flag onto a class teddy bear - especially after the class voted on it?
Or in a different light, do you think that you could get lashes or other punishment put in place for defaming the flag?
I understand that they are reacting to a perceived "slight" to their prophet, but shouldn't the children be blamed for suggesting and voting on the name? And shouldn't the government be blamed for limiting free speech and expression and for enforcing their religion on others? Isn't this a human rights violation?

You probably could find those 1000 people. The major difference being that here if they killed over a flag burning they would be put into prison. In fact note the fact that flag burning is perfectly legal in the US. So is naming a bear muhammed.

I seriously doubt you could. In fact most if not all people take the Flag and our Freedoms for granted which is exactly why GWB has gotten away with what he has. I submit that if we stopped being Mexican American, Native American, Italian American, etc and just be AMERICANS that our country would be better off. We've many of the same issues as the Muslims with respect to what is sacred...The recent issues over the POA and display of Crosses/Ten Commandments in gov't buildings bear that out. The difference is we can view these as SECULAR issues and not religious...The Muslims simply can't see beyond religion. PEACE!

Maybe, but those 1000 people are still crazy, in the end it is just a flag. The founders knew this. I don't care how sacred muhammed is to Muslims, there is no excuse for calling for her execution. Those people are still crazy. I think I'll go burn a flag now.

yes and if you add up the IQ of these 1000 people that you would have found in the deep south, the sum will likely be less than 1000.
EDIT: I personally find flag-burning distastefull- however, I'm not going to pull out a sawed off shotgun, dress in overalls with a straw hat and a pickup truck and blow your brains out before going home and having sex with my sister.
EDIT2: I don't think you would find 1000 people if you simply NAME a teddy bear "stars and stripes".

Not a 1000. But you could find a million willing to kill you for naming a teddy bear Muhammad.

I think in a country of 300 million people, finding 1000 people to kill a person over any issue is not difficult. If a guy in Alabama can shot his friend over a card game, anything is possible.
However, consider that 1/10 of the world's 1.2 billion Muslims support the radical guys. You'll get figures up to half for Muslims in Britain and other European countries who support Shariah (religious) law and percentages of around a quarter in "moderate" countries in Muslims who support suicide bombing against civilians. So there's over a hundred million people who want to see Western citizens die by violent means. Do you see why this is a problem?
"The above references a May 2006 study which found that:
* Only 17 percent of British Muslims say Arabs did 9/11.
* Only 16 percent of Turkish Muslims say Arabs did 9/11.
* Only 15 percent of Pakistani Muslims say Arabs did 9/11.
* 35 percent of French Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified.
* 25 percent of Spanish Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified.
* 24 percent of British Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified.
* 69 percent of Nigerian Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified.
* 57 percent of Jordanian Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified.
* 53 percent of Egyptian Muslims say suicide bombing of civilians can be justified. "
The scary thing is that those numbers are far lower than the 2003 figures.

Yep. But it would be a lot more disturbing if they could go ahead and do it with the support of their government.
