It's nice that they think we're smarter than them when they insult us...

I have noticed that and wondered on it. Many Christians of course do not make such an assumption, but I have a suspicion where the idea comes from. There was a sociological study done, that studied among other things, religion's impact on educational outcomes. It studied other things as well, but there were facinating findings regarding religion.
Children who are fundamentalists, or more importantly had a father who was a fundamentalist, received much lower grades in school. Just looking at the GPA difference, it was huge. Further, on measures of college preparedness they scored well below the national average. And on measures of inquisitiveness, they were well below the norm. It appears that if preachers give you all the answers, there really isn't anything relevant in the school to learn since you already know the important stuff.
From the perspective of that child, anyone rejecting this on the basis of science must be rejecting God through a serious misunderstanding of the truth. Someone is lying and it is too personally dangerous to consider it is people they trust and love. Further, the child's experience of the science geeks in school would cause them to over generalize what an atheist is. I believe they mistake atheists for science geeks. Part of that comes from the fact scientists are called to question models of reality and so are less prone to religion and needing a religion. Science only works if it is independent of the belief system of the user.
These children grow up, but their model of reality is deeply flawed. Rather than fix the model, they try to fix the world to fit their model. They need to save us and convert us to their view. I also think that is why they feel persecuted at times. People look at them as though they are nuts, quite a bit. Unfortunately, that reinforces the model in use rather than causes it to fold up and be replaced with a better working model of the world.

isnt it presumptuous to assume you are smarter than all believers?
You may have read the God delusion once or twice but that doesn't make you a genius.
Being a genuis isn't what you know, but how you are able to interpret things in your own way and use them to you're qualifications. A genius is someone who can take nothing, and turn it into something.
What you're showing me is that you got nothing... so prove that you know something, otherwise you are just another one of those "Ya, i'm too smart for these religious folk just cause i don't believe in flying pigs" routine, which doesn't make you an instant candidate for any nobel prizes or whatever.
So, what you got?

Because to deny actual evidence that can be seen and touched is an indication of willful ignorance. Such people make Charlie Brown look like Einstein.

Because they don't understand that the fact that the majority of biologists and astrophysicists are atheists does not mean that the majority of atheists are biologists and astrophysicists.

As a believer I must say the level of ironic humor in this question is unbelievable
and as expected, you forgot the word "more" after your claims of being "far intelligent"

Actually,I think they automatically "assume" they aren't.In fact, they count on that.I know.I do hang out in astronomy, physics, and biology, more so than here. They KNOW they can't post such audacious lies in a forum for that, they avoid those sections.
