Make an appointment with a dermatologist...it could be just dry skin, it could be eczema, or it could be athlete's foot...and you need to know what is going on. Since it usually takes a while for an appointment, here is my suggestion for the meantime. Treat it like dry skin. Within 10 seconds of getting out of the tub at night, slather Aquaphor all over and put on clean 100 percent cotton socks. If it does not drastically improve within a few days, go to the pediatrician for his/her opinion, unless you were lucky enough to get a dermatologist appointment by that time!

My almost 2 year old daughter had the same problem. I got all cotton socks (next to impossible to find when you are looking for them) for when I can get her to keep socks on her feet. I also slathered her feet up with the Equate (walmart brand) of Eucerin lotion which was about $4.00 for a 12 oz tub versus the $20.00 for the Eucerin. Worked wonders within 3 days
good luck

Regular lotion will not work on dry cracked feet. Buy Kerasal it is made specifically for this problem. Apply it twice a day to clean dry feet and put on socks. You will notice a difference within a day or two. Good luck.

It could be athletes foot?? Try an athlete's foot treatment.
If it's just extreme dry skin, lather his feet in vasiline and cover in socks when he sleeps (when he won't be up running around) Buy a cream called "Cetaphil" - it comes in a tub (don't buy the lotion). This is what I use for my son's extremely dry skin, and excema. His dermatologist recommended it.
Good luck!

Make sure he is drinking enough water! It's really easy to get dehydrated in dry winter climates, and cracking fingers and toes are a sure sign.
