The recipe calls for a cup of corn syrup but I don't have the light kind! Just dark! Can I substitute light mayo?

I'd use some sort of mustard so it would have a nice zingy flavor.

I use the Dark myself. Also, in a tight I have used regular syrup, but, the pie be runny. Recipes, in my opinion, give us a guide to follow. We can add a little less or a little more, depends. I have used Honey in place of sugar (1/3 cup or 1/4 cup Honey to replace 1 cup sugar). Basically sugar is for sweet and we can sub our sweets or cut the sugar to be less sweet.
So, Light, Dark Corn syrup works. Molasses works. Mrs. Butterworth's will work. It may not turn out as great as Corn Syrup, but, that another opinion.

No not Mayo! You can substitute light for the dark for pecan pie. In fact my recipe calls for that. It will make it richer.

Don't use Mayo! You can use the dark kind or get away with using a sugar syrup and alittle corn starch.

Kenny Please use your head!
You can use the dark corn syrup. The only difference is that the pie will be darker then if you used the light corn syrup.

Use the dark. I am curious were you joking? Why would you think to use light mayo. It just doesn't make sense.

Just use the dark. DON'T PUT MAYO IN A PECAN PIE!

Yes, Kenny, use your head. I mean, sheesh man. If you don't have light syrup then you just take your dark syrup and set it out in the sun. The sun will bleach it light, just like it bleaches peoples hair lighter, and once the color is bleached out, THEN you can use it. Duh.
