"The bible could under no circumstances be considered in history as a primary source, it was written after the event and by people who might or might not have been there"
Well it is hardly likely to have been written before the event, is it now? You know - a history of the Second World War written in 1913?

Source?
Because archaelogy has supported the Bible again and again. Some archaeologists have referred to it as an excellent research guide when performing digs. It references exact years. "In the X year of the King of X, when X was ruling in the land of X" that can be cross referenced against other sources.
Hezekiah's rule, and the incident between he and Sennachrib has been proven by secular history. There are literally thousands of references to what the Bible discusses. Do I even need to go near the debacle that was Bible critics stating that Belshazzar never existed, or never was a king in Babylon. Funny how people tend to throw that one under the rug. With every criticism, newer facts brought out that the Bible was right, and critics were wrong. Heck, even Herodotus got the last king in Babylon wrong.
Or what about the Moabite Stone? Or Pharoah Neco? Time and time again, the Bible has been proven correct.
Do you accept Greek Historians such as Herodotus and Xenophon? Thucydides? Because it has been proven that they contain many more errors than the Bible supposedly contains. So what exactly are you referring to. You don't cite a source. You just make a blanket statement, with nothing behind it.

Actually the bible was not written in a cave. I think you're thinking of the Koran. Muslims believe that the prophet Muhammad went into a cave and the Angel Gabriel dictated it to him.
They didnt' have laptops back then.... besides God uses our methods to communicate with us. If He used his own then we would not understand it.
Although many of the events in the bible did happen, the primary purpose of the bible was not to be a book of historical facts. The primary purpose is to teach profound spiritual truth. Just because the bible may not be a primary source of research does not make it false.

Are you aware that some of the books were written by Kings? King David, King Solomon. A physician (Luke), a lawyer (Paul) Living in caves? NOT!
Written after the fact. Please take a little time to study the book of Daniel and then do a search on the dead sea scrolls. You'll find that fragments of the book of Daniel were found that dated back to about 100 years BEFORE some of the events it foretold.

Firstly it wasn't written by old people in a cave and secondly history is always written after the event has happened...
Of course, if Christ never historically was raised from the dead as testified by his first followers who were prepared to stake their lives (and lose them) for that fact yeah we're going to look stupid- but not that stupid- if that were the case we'd all just end up as worm fodder in the end anyway. If however he did rise from the dead we'll go to join him in heaven and everyone else will go to hell.

The new testament was written as a diary by a soldier then found 40 years later and thought to be the word of what's his name.
It was inveted to rule the many by the few, one man could keep a whole village in check with one book,
wish i had wrote it, lol

Well sir, I'm sure are a "biblical scholar".... if you write a biography it always has to be written the life of the person....
Read the introduction to Luke and maybe you will have an idea of how the Gospels were collaborated..... get back to me when you actually do some serious unibased research for yourself.
