I'm curious if they have an in-flight food for a 3 hour flight. I will be leaving from NY at 8pm (not sure if that's too late for serving food). I will be going straight from work to airport, should I buy dinner outside and bring on to the flight..or not?

Continental is the only domestic airline that still provides free in-flight meals, and it's a major selling point.

On a flight of that duration, you can expect a 'snack,' which typically consists of a sanwich and chips, with possibly some fruit thrown in. Check your ticket to be certain, however, and bring extra food if you want. . . virtually everyone does these days, so you certainly won't stand out!

Enjoy your flight!

No, they may serve you a "snack". Full meals are only served in First and Business class domestically. The snack pack will have 2 - 4 crackers, some cheese spread, a cookie, and a small package of trail mix. (Like 4 peanuts, 2 raisins and a couple of sunflower seeds)

Some carriers will sell food from carts at the gate as you board. But since your flight is at 8pm I would doubt they will have that going. I would suggest you bring food with you. Pick up a sandwich or something from one of the food vendors at your gate.

Continental serves full meals on trans-continental domestic flights, and only a snack service for the rest that are longer than 2 hours I believe. You will be supplied with something to the tune of a hot sandwich, chips and small treat. It may not be filling enough for you so you may want to eat something before boarding or bring it on with you. Some of those late night flights do not even have a snack service. You will want to call the reservations line for info on your particular flight.

i havent had a meal served to me on a plane in years. the last cross country flight i was on didnt even have snacks. you had to BUY them from the airline!!! but i dont fly continental, so good luck with that. i would suggest grabbing something at the airport and eating it there, or on the plane (its not like you wont have time, i havent had a flight leave on time in the past 3 years either)

Have you flown in the past 5 years or so? Airlines don't give you meals anymore. If you're flying coach - you certainly won't get any meals, but you might be able to buy overpriced salty snacks.

But if you're flying first class they'll probably serve you something (not sure if it'll be dinner or a snack though).
