No this isn't area of the sunah ( celebration) of Mohammad(pbuh), neither is it in accordance to any command or practise from the Holy Quran. this is meant to be an act of remembrance and mourning for The prophets grandson Husain ibn Ali (ra) and his relations and followers who the position killed contained in the conflict of Karballa (in Iraq). ( In modern-day day words it would not be observed as a conflict, better like a slaughter, because the Caliphs military a great deal outnumbered the supporters of Husain ibn Ali (ra) ) some who survived the conflict were marched strolling to Damascus and distinctive the individuals who collected alongside the way began to conquer themselves even as they realized what had got here about. the final public of shia do no longer practice it contained in the exaggerated kind you spot in some position immediately( Pakistan, Iraq,India, ...)

By addressing these insults you are giving them a sense of validity. If its wrong, why are you so flustered by it? That sort of thing. If you ignore it, it will simply cease to be a problem. Insults only work when the opposing party is affected by them. And to tell you the truth, you're giving in to them pretty easily.

dont worry about it..
some people ive talked to here think shia's believe the quran is incomplete, and that supposedly Allah made a "mistake" and gave Prophet Mohammed the prophecy.
people expect non-muslms to understand islam when certain muslims themselves bring hasty assumptions like this about their own muslim brothers and sisters.

ignore them, they're losers... but do you blame them ? they need to direct their hate and anger towards someone. Last week it was me and mimi and some other people, now it's you. They're just a few (one or two) people here that are spreading hate and false information, best thing is to ignore them.
