Stress can cause you body to go into protection mode...tensing up to react with fight or flight, which can cause problems with your digestion.

Your stomach is considered your 2nd stomach, it can get stress out just like you do. I'm a stresser by nature and a worrier also, this has done nothing but give me a gastic ulcer since I was 15, so I've been living and dealing with it for about 15 years. The more you worry and stress the more irritated your gastric jucies (the acid in your stomach that breaks down food so it can be absorbed in your body) become and when they come upward, thats when your lining in your intestines and esophagus gets thinner and get ulcerated. Being shy probably has nothing to do with digestive problems unless you're stressing about wishing you were someone else outgoing. Stressing too much can also cause IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) where everything you eat, you feel like it goes right thru you and you're always in the bathroom. If you can, have your GP or PCP (primary care physician) refer you to a GI doctor. Good luck and chill a bit. =)

Thinking about single point or getting embroiled into a sticky mud, certainly depletes our energy. Remember, every activity and more so the thinking consumes energy.
Too much thinking or living either in future or past causes stress and to beat that stress and its effects, body uses extra energy. In such situations chemicals secreted cause stress and extra work on nervous system. Stomach is first to get affected and pains are the result.
As for emotions, we all act due to our habits or emotions.
Try to live in present.
Involve in activities that you love and
Enjoy Life....It is not a rehearsal.

Hello,

(ANS) YES! stress and unexpressed emotions can definitely cause digestive problems such as Proctitis, Ulcerative colitis, Colitis etc. Stress is one of the major causes or contributory factors in these conditions.

**Its VERY very common to be very angry with our parents or family, & especially in your teens & twenties. I know I was and it took me many years to come to terms with my feelings. (i.e. thats were the term angry young man comes from!!). Anger is part of the process we move though in separating from our parents into being our own person and becoming a full adult.

**You should try to allow yourself i.e. give yourself permission to be or feel angry as this is much healthier than pushing those feelings down inside.

**Unexpressed feelings of anger, rage & hatred are the most destructive in the long term.

**Many of us have difficulties dealing with our feelings, expressing what we really feel, sadly this can leave a person feeling very alone and very misunderstood.

**Stop think that you have an "emotional problem" as this itself can get in the way of making positive changes. YES! making sense of our experience can be quite hard on your own.

My sincere advise would be to find someone whom you can confide in & whom you can discuss your feelings with. That could be a close friend or family member. Or finally I would suggest that you might consider some counseling or psychotherapy but you should find an experienced & fully qualified person who knows how to help & guide you.

**Counseling & therapy can help with the shyness as well as any other feelings you might have.

Kind Regards Ivan

Stress in the mind causes stress in the body. The world today is fast and stressful, but you need to learn how not to let it get to you. If you react to outside stress with anger and frustration it will backfire against you. You can't deal with stress that way. You need to learn how to be patient and overlooking and plod along with a lighthearted attitude looking for better opportunities. You are angry for a reason, and it's probably your inability to accept the situations around you. So give up your angry will and learn how to deal with things patiently. Your mind will heal, then your body.

To the best of my knowledge, STRESS and THINKING too much can only increase your blood pressure and give you HYPERTENSION (The silent killer).

You have confirmed this by saying that you are 20 yrs and that you have nothing. You don't interact with your colleagues and you get annoyed for no reason.

Please see your doctor immediately for your BP. Your stated problems has nothing to do with digestive.

Yes it can cause digestive problems because your body becomes tense and occurs especially if you have anxiety. It can make you loose your appetite, have diarrhoea and vomiting. You need to find ways of being relaxed and directing your attention to positive things. You must have made good friends at university so tell them how you feel, express your self and you will feel better. Good luck!

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.
