I have been on Clomipramine for six weeks and now I am terminating it because it is unsuccessful. My question is, How long do I have to taper it down before I can completely come off it? I started off on 50mg a day and eventually got the dose up to 200mg. So, in the last week and a half I have dropped to 175,150,125,100,75. I intend to come off it totally in five days. Can I do this safely? Will I have any bad side effects? How long do I have to wait before switching to an SSRI? I've been on Aropax, Luvox, and Zoloft too. No avail. Can some one recommend a drug combination that I could try to reduce my OCD symptoms and depression?

You are doing it quicker than most people, but if you feel okay then go for it. Most people are fine with it. I went strait on Lexapro after taking Prozac without tapering. Of course I started Lexapro on a low dose. Prozac is a good drug for most people. You may need to use Klonopin for the side effects Prozac often causes.

I don't know anything about that drug in particular, but it's generally a good idea to taper down to smaller and smaller doses. I am currently stopping Paxil because I'm supposed to start on Cymbalta, and they recommended that I could do it within a week.

Chances are, the five days will probably be okay.

I can't really recommend a particular medication. There are a lot of good ones. Some people try this or that and whatever they take seems to work well for them. Some other people have a harder time to get the right thing. It's a very individual thing, what worked for me may not work for you.
You really need to do this under a doctor's supervision.

I have taken Desipramine, Paxil, Buspar and Seroguel. Paxil worked the best. I'm only trying Cymbalta because I consented to do that for a research study.

My brother took Desipramine, Paxil, Klonopin, and now he's on Lithium. His doctor changed his diagnosis from Major Depression to Bipolar Disorder, and it seems that he has done the best on Lithium.

Talk to the mental health care provider that is prescribing your meds, Hon, as only he or she can safely and effectively advise you on this...and take heart. Altho unfortunately it's a trial & error method that determines what combo works best for each individual eventually the right 'mix' for you will be found. One of my kids is bi-polar ( like her father, my ex) and it took quite a few combinations before the right one was discovered...she's been maintained on it for over a year now with great results but...she sees a therapist and a psychologist monthly who work with her psychiatrist in controlling the disorder, and if she needs any adjustments in her meds it's caught before trouble begins.....Good Luck, Sweetie....

Your plan might be a little aggressive, but you can try it & if you have any problems you can just slow down a bit.
It's not normal for most meds to kick in before 6 weeks, maybe you'r enot giving the meds enough time to work. They're not a magic wand, they take time.
You could try Cymbalta, LOVE it!

You should be talking with the doctor who prescribed the meds about safely reducing those meds

Even Sponge George Bush Pants is bearable.

This is probably not the best place to ask a question like this. You should talk to your doctor.
