Why do so many ppl think PS3 is crap?

Question

Got into an "argument" yesterday and one of the guy's kept bringing up how Ps3 and Ps2 have same gfx...ugh. Yeah, and the other guy is like "Xbox sold 11mill, Ps3 only like 6mill."

The PS3 is a better system......it just hasn't had an opportunity to "outshine" the XBox so far as the media content (games) that allow it to really perform are yet to be released.

There are two basic reasons that the XBox has outsold the PS3 so far: Price & the XBox hit the market earlier.

Am betting that '08 will be the year that the PS3 really takes off.

The blu-ray Hi-def CD drive, in and of itself, is nearly worth what the PS3 costs in total.

Well first of all, as some have already said, the 360 has had a year to get a headstart above the competition. You can look at the PS2 and realize why it outsold the Xbox because it had over a year of a headstart to get above everyone. It seems where things stand now that this trend may repeat itself with this current console war.

I chose a 360 over a PS3, but it's not because PS3 is a bad system. I have no interest in paying for a Blu-Ray player that, now, has no full backwards compatibility with my 50+ PS2 games. Game exclusivity is becoming a thing of the past, why should I spend $400 for the a 40gb PS3 that has NO backwards compatibility when I can spend 400 on the top end 360 and play the same games and with a simple patch be able to play my Xbox games?

I was an avid Sony fan and it was a hard choice to pick a 360 over my beloved Playstation, but I now don't regret it in anyway shape or form.

On the flipside, I think with the coming years of Metal Gear Solid and SquareEnix's line-up of games, PS3 will finally be a competetor that it always has been instead of sitting dead-last in sales.

Oh, and your friend is an idiot. He apparently never picked up Call of Duty 4 or Heavenly Sword to know that the games are absolutely gorgeous and look nothing like PS2 graphics. And to say that the PS3 is crap is just hilarious. Tell him to actually play a PS3 and then argue with you about it.

They're fanboys. They know that the 360 is weak compared to the PS3.

The only reason the 360 was able to sell 12 million or so is because it had a 1 year head start on the PS3, and the fact that many people got multiple 360s because they keep breaking. People are only getting 1 PS3 because the PS3 isn't breaking down, and people don't need to get replacements. Now that Sony has released the 40 gb PS3, the PS3 sales have jumped dramatically. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 overtakes the 360 in 18 to 24 months.

When they say PS2 and PS3 graphics look the game, blame it on the programmers. They can't make a good looking PS3 game because they're either too lazy, or they're just not talented enough. In the hands of a competent programmer or team, the PS3 can produce amazing looking games. Look at Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank. Amazing looking games. Tell them that Kameo and Perfect Dark 0 look like XBX games.

Heres my two cents. Before I purchased either the XBox or the PS3, I did a lot of research because both are pretty expensive.
After really taking my time and looking into the future, I bouth a 60 gig PS3, and I love it. The Xbox in my opinion has hit it's peak and the PS3 is coming on strong. Just as I hoped it would.

My younger brother bought an Xbox when they first came out.
His #1 wish for Christmas is a PS3.

It's natural for people to defend their purchases as being the best. Makes them feel better about having spent big bucks for a system (or anything else for that matter).

In my opinion, the Wii isn't even in the same class. It is relativley inexpensive though and that's why anyone buys them.

I don't think anyone really things the PS3 is "crap." Some people are unhappy with the PS3's current line-up of exclusive games, because I don't think there is anyquestion that the Xbox 360 has better ones. However, in the next year, PS3 has a good chance to catch up and gain adoption.

My real problem with the PS3 is not with the system but with the company offering a lack of backwards compatibility in its new 40GB PS3. It will exclude memory slots and HDMI outputs as well. And the only reason I complain about this is because a friend of mine traded in his PS2 for $50 bucks off the PS3 and got really hosed with 40 PS2 games that he cannot play anymore (the store and sony would not take a return out of box...which I completely understand, but it still stinks for him).

Kids with 360s and Wiis just mostly don't know a thing about computers and serious gaming. Some ppl are just jealous - they know they've been left behind with their weak Wii's and self-destructive 360's, but they don't admit it. Of course 360 has more units sold - they are year ahead of PS3. 2008 will prove that PS3 better for everyone with so many games coming. The guy who said that PS2 and PS3 have same gfx - probably very young kid, whos mom didn't buy him PS3 for Xmas.

Well 1 they cant afford one so they make a big rant on that.

2nd they never actually had any experience playing one.

The PS3 & PS2 tho arent the same technicly the same but there both great systems with alot to offer.The 360 is garbage,microsoft made crappy hardware that cant take a beating that hardcore gamers put out on em,the games are average and nothing comes free and the Wii is wiieeeak,The PS2 has better graphics than the Wii,It has no DVD,HD-DVD or Blueray playback,You end up killing someone with that Wii remote and nunchuck and there games are so childish.The PS3 is the best.
