I'm only beginning to learn about wicca, much to my shame, as someone I was very close to was wiccan. I regret that I never took the time to learn more about something that meant so much to her.

My question is, what happens concerning relationships we have in this incarnation when we get to the Summerland? Do we still have the same feelings for those we loved or hated, or are those feelings gone? If we caused great pain to someone, would they be given the understanding of why it was done?

I was told that if a soul tires of the cycle, or simply doesn't wish to continue, it can choose to cease to be. Is this a common belief?

I have many more questions but I guess I should at least try and be brief. I'm sorry if these seem rather basic questions but the websites I've been to don't really explain much beyond the existence of Summerland.

I thank any and all that are willing to help me understand.

I guess I should have added that I'm interested in any views/opinions/beliefs. I understand that your views aren't representative of every wiccan. Thanks for replying though. :)

Ray J FoZ - You do realise, of course, that that wasn't my question?

If you don't approve of me attempting to learn something concerning the beliefs of a group of spiritual people who have never persecuted others for their beliefs, instead of looking for the same old questions and giving the same old answers, feel free not to answer. There are many more questions out there that have been asked thousands of times before, just waiting to be answered in the same old, tired way. Happy hunting.

Wiccan Rider - Thank you for your answer. I realise that your beliefs aren't representative of others, but I appreciate your answer. I have found the biggest problem is the very one I'm running up against now. No-one seems to want to share what THEY believe. I've been told numerous times I should do my research, but I can't seem to find a place to do the research. I'm fairly isolated here so I have to rely mainly on the internet, but most sites I have found seem to give the same uninformative answers as every other site. I can find out that they believe in Summerland, but not the details. Thanks again for your answer. I'll keep trying to find what I'm looking for. Knowledge worth gaining is worth the effort.

It is pretty much the opinion of the individual. There is no set belief of the Summerland that fits Wiccans as a whole. Like the first answerer said it can vary from tradition to tradition and as far as solitary, I have heard a wide range of beliefs from my friends.

some believe the Summerland is merely a resting place between reincarnations and that is were we decide if we learned what we wanted to learn and what we want to learn in other future lives.

Others believe it is only a resting place until we go on to be with the Goddess that we all are just a fragment of her anyway and one day she will be whole again.

Others like myself believe it is the final resting place kind of like heaven the Christians talk about but more earth like. I think it may be another dimension.

So you see many different beliefs are out there and not one size fits all, you will have to do your research on these things and decide what fits you best.

Part of the problem is that afterlife beliefs vary by tradition, and a Wiccan of one trad can't answer for another.

You realize of course that the Wiccan religion is no more valid than the one whose deity you have as an avatar? Perhaps in 50 years people will be asking questions about FSMism as if it were a real religion.

Edit: Than an apology for ranting is in order. I am sorry.
