...even though I have never lived in either place? My father grew up in northern England, my mother on the east coast of the USA....and I have lived in the south of England all my life.

I should add that I have made regular visits to the area where my father grew up....and I try to spend some time every summer at my mother's childhood summer home.

Not weird at all. I visit the area that produced my parents often. One day I may retire there.

I love to go and visit where my Mother and Father born and grew up. Both neighborhoods and the houses they were born in still remains rather unchanged until this day so does the neighbor families.

I like listening to their childhood memories right where they occurred while visiting the places with them.

It gives me the feeling of being somehow the part of their childhood and it actually helps me to understand that they were once children too.

It makes me more tolerant to their worries, faults and insecurities in this rather older age -please don't tell my mom that I called her "old" :) - and brings them to the level of regular human beings rather than the "Gods" that we once all believe that they were :)

No. I think it's grand!
It's kind of fun. I haven't been to where my father came from. It never sounded interesting. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
My mom and I were born in the same city!

Not at all. Those places are part of your family's history. I think it's great that you're feeling connected to those places because of your parents.
