First of all, the Sudanese high court has sentanced the woman to 10 days in jail and deportation. This is a made for TV event--but a little careful thought. What would happen in the States to a teacher if she named a teddy bear "Jesus Christ"--she'd be unemployed--assailed by fundamentalist and atheists alike. This woman bore some personal responsbilitiy being in a Moslem country ruled by Moslem law--she can't claim she had no idea Moslems were so fanatical about things--I'm not the smartest man in the world but if I were a teacher in a Moslem country--I think I'd steer clear of using the prophets name for a bear just like I have enough brains not to name one Jesus Christ in america. If one of my childrens teachers named a bear "Jesus Christ" here I'd think either she was extremely stupid not to expect a reaction--or trying to teach my kids something I might not want them taught. She bore a great deal of personal responsibility. Whether she intended on thumbing her nose at the hosts countrys laws or she was just stupid-the Sudanese high court was quite just--they weren't going to have an international incident by killing her or giving her an egregious punishment. They gave her 10 days and deportation. Much like the Arkansas judge years ago did with the Scopes monkey trial. For all the national media attention--the man got minimal punishment for a stupid law.

Jesus hated the behaviour of religious leaders who were harsh and mean:
Matthew 23:23 "Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites ! You pay tithes of dill and mint and cummin; but you have overlooked the weightier demands of the Law - justice, mercy and good faith ... Blind guides! You strain off a midge, yet gulp down a camel."

I think Sudan is an incredibly backwards nation. And all this "Islam is peace" crap goes right out the door as far as I am concerned.

I think they are a bunch of savages. Any time they feel slighted, they call for death. No simple answers as to why they behave this way, but it has been going on for thousands of years.

My view is that they have utter intolerance. I seriously hope they don't believe their religion is one of peace. Why can't they just forgive and move on. damn
