A food processor will do the trick or if you have a Kitchenaid stand mixer you can buy the attachment for grating veggies.

Most food processors and before they were invented a manual food grater and slicer that takes cone shaped cutters about the size of a 2 cup measure. By hand grater, I assume you mean the flat thing.

A food processor with a grating disk. You can use it to grate not only carrots, but cheese, potatoes (for hash browns), cucumbers and many other veggies. I use my grater disk and slicing disk as much as the processing blade.
