Lots of babies. Not so many converts, as they would like the world to believe.

The belief that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world is subjective propaganda and should be taken with a grain of salt and an eye towards those who report it and what motives they may have.
The truth is that Islam is growing fast in both Europe and North America. The incumbent religion in those areas has traditionally been Christianity, which is still growing too, but because it is already so widely spread in those areas, any growth seems minimal by comparison. By that I mean that there is a saturation point where once a particular religion becomes widely spread, it struggles to spread further, and even when it does, the rate of growth is very low because there is little room for improvement.

For example, if you have a fictitious country with a population of 100 people, 75 of which are Christian and 6 are Muslim, and over the course of a year 5 more people convert to Christianity and 3 people convert to Islam. Both religions have grown, and Christianity even grew more, but as a percentage, Islam has grown 50% while Christianity has only grown about 7%. Based on those numbers, Islam would have grown faster than Christianity.
Based on the same method of measurement, the fastest growing religion in China, India and the middle east last year was Christianity.

See? It all depends on who you ask and how they tally the numbers. Always be careful of claims to such statistics. And note that how much something grew is not the same as how fast something grew.

Because people are searching for answers to big questions and few religions "answer" as any questions as Islam. That doesn't mean their answers are right, but in some ways, Islam today is a more rigid and concrete faith than any other, so those who can't cope want to turn to something they see as solid and unchanging.

I find it worrying, not because I think Islam is wrong but because there are too many Muslim practises which are being interpreted too literally and creating medieval systems such as the subordination of women and the ji-hadi mentality.

This is not to say there is anything more inteherantly wrong with this faith than any other, just that if the masses of followers take it like this it will lead to a very split dicotomy in the Western World and the conflict over this could be disasterous.

We need to encourage people to think for themselves, not follow blindly. A truely robust faith could stand up to questioning on this level.

Let us consider the possibility that The Holy Bible is true. If when the tribulation comes 2/3 of the earth is to be wiped out and that includes the human population, and consider that it won't be God's people that are annihilated...

Consider the Ishmael/Issac issue...

Who do you think God is going to destroy? Don't you think maybe they would want a large army? Don't you think they would want to convince their people that it is a great thing to commit suicide and take innocent people with you in order to earn your way into Paradise? And if it is such an easy way to guarantee Paradise and so many seem to want to jump on the suicide-bomber band-wagon, it would be a good idea to get as many recruits as possible...thus, people are just dying to become Islamic thereby making it the world's fastest growing religion.

I'd believe it. Possibly due to birthrate, but another factor to take into account is that people like direction in life. Islam possibly offers answers that other religions don't for some people.
It's important to remember we don't all live in a comfortable western lifestyle. Our motivations are different to the rest of the world still. The answers to our questions may not be the same as for someone who lives in an Indonesian fishing village for example.

There are several reasons for the growth of Islam.

It has become a religion for the poor and downtrodden who are fed up with the west. This pretty much accounts for 5/6 of the world.

Collectively, the predominantly Islamic nations have much higher birthrates than the predominatly Christian or other nations.

It has been recieving a lot of attention lately, When things are in the spotlight, people want to learn about it and try it.

It does make some excellent points, and there are many appealing aspects to the faith.

It is a revolution against the current global dynamic of more skin, more sex etc.

Yes Muslim population is growing by leaps and bounds and guess where it is spreading fastest? In USA and Canada where on average 500 Christians and Jews are accepting Islam., daily.

The reasons are simple.

Firstly Christianity and Judaism have failed to satisfy the intellectual needs of information era. When anybody asks the clergy to justify the trinity, it simply exhorts them not to ask a question or else they would loose faith.

Characterwise clergy has fallen to an abyss and indulged in sex and worse still some have become gay. How this licentiousness can be compatible with religion?

Islam being the only religion revealed in the age of reason
has better answers for human minds. It has only One God,
Only one book ( with no other versions and editions) since
1400 years and only one prophet who showed every aspect
of life by personal example to his disciples.

Muhammad is the only prophet known to recorded history and his life is a briliant example of what could be achieved
in just 23 years of struggle.

Last but not the least, there is no parallel to Quran. The book
appeals both to reason and to sentiment. Whoever reads
it with an open mind, accepts Islam. If in doubt. try for yourself!

That was written by a zealous follower but it is not true look it up on snoops. That is an E mail that is curculateing.
But Jesus said, "narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading to salvation, and few are the ones finding it."
So the fact there is large numbers does not mean it is the truth. In fact, just the oposite.
When the flood came only one family survived.
In Sodom and Gamorrah only Lot and his two daughters survived.
When Jesus was on earth the best profit of them all, most did not listen to him. The Pharisees and Sadducees were the largest known religion of that time. Jesus comdemed them.
So large numbers is not an indication of truth.
This earth has always had false religion that is used to manupulate people for your own evil means.
But it does point up one thing, stay out of foreign countries.

I can easily see why.
1) marketing to disaffected poor all over the world
2) seen as the anti-western religion
3) 72 virgins!
4) great publicity in the form of extremists blowing stuff up
5) see #1 again. Poverty and despair are the real drivers of middle eastern religious and political actions.

Well, it might have something to do with Islam's ability to incorporate themes from other religions throughought the ages as they came in contact with them. Instead of being swallowed up, Islam wisely chose to adapt, allowing it to continue to be practiced for centuries. Also, Islam sees other ways of joining with god and finding "salvation" as being valid, as long as they work for that individual person. Can you imagine a Western philosophy that's so open minded? I can, but I can also immagine pink elephants dancing with purple unicorns!!

Personally, without hard figures and reliable sources, I would very much doubt it is the fastest growing religion.
