That a person should not accept another persons blood so they could survive?
Speaking of Jahovas Witnesses.
Just read a news story - again - about a J.W refusing transfusions and of course, this 14 year old died.
Now, is 14 years of age really mature enough to decide his own fate? Is he really knowledgable on his religion or was it force fed to him when he found out he had Leukemia?
I'm sorry - if it came between my child dying or a transfusion to save her, heck yeah i'd say transfusion.
Doesn't mean God is gonna spit her out of his mouth so this topic peters me.
But, i'll stay nice and calm and see what people have to say and all i am looking for is where this all stems from and why, if there is an answer to why.

I'd like to respond to Mely. Blood is the life of men. But your use of Acts 15:27-28 doesn't condemn blood transfusions. For one, they didn't have blood transfusions in biblical times. Second, blood here in Acts 15 is related to the worship of idols (of which fornication was also part of their worship). The issue was Gentiles coming to Christianity, a Jewish religion. The command here was that these Gentiles not mix their former idolatry with their new faith in Christ.
Rather than seeing blood transfusions as sinful we should seem them as virtue. Giving of yourself to help others is the heart of love your neighbor as yourself. And Jesus did give his blood (his life) so that we may have life, a spiritual picture of an eternal life-giving blood transfusion.

This is one of the huge problems with religion and indoctrination.

This 14 year old was taught that life saving scientific understanding and procedure was wrong. Maturity doesn't enter into indoctrination. After all there are educated 50 year olds who believe that God stopped the rotation of the earth so that Joshua could kill the rest of a Gentile community.

Its unfortunate that people are so willing to give up reason for belief, and time after time it leads to disaster and pain.

First of all, God told Noah that blood was sacred and it was the life. (Genesis 9:4, 16) So we see that to God, it is very sacred.
In Act 15:28, 29, we see that god dosen't want us to abstain from blood. He lists this along with fornication and adultery. So it must be really important. For example: Suppose a doctor were to to tell you to abstain from alcoholic beverages. Would that simply mean that you should not drink alcohol but that you could have injected into your veins? Of course not! Likewise, abstaining from blood means not taking it into our bodies at all. So the command to abstain from blood means that we would not allow anyone to transfuse blood into our veins.
But as a Jehovah witness, we would accept other kinds of treatments that do not involve the misuse of blood. But it is a different situation for everyone.
Now the question is that would a Christian break God's law just to stay alive a little longer in this system of things? Jesus said: "Whoever wants to save his soul will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it." (Matthew 16:25) Of course, not everyone wants to die. But if we tried to save our present life by breaking Gods law, we would be in danger of losing everlasting life. We are wise, then, to put our trust in the rightness of God's law, with full confidence that if we die from any cause, our Life-Giver will remember us in the resurrection and restore us the precious gift of life. (John 5:28, 299; Hebrews 11:6)
Also obedience if better than sacrifice. ( 1Samuel 15:22)
And putting one's life ahead of God's law is fatal. (Mark 8:35,36)

JW's do not have the true gospel.

Jesus said:

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:13.
