...has got me into a deep funk. It's so incredibly sad and depressing. That little cutie-pie in Texas recently, and now a mom in Georgia took her two little ones into a gas station bathroom and stabbed them to death with a steak knife.

As a father of three girls age 3 and under, stories like this make me feel really horrible all day, I mean - to the point where I have difficulty concentrating. Is the only solution to just stop reading news sites? Or is there something else that can be done?

I just don't see how anyone can harm a child. I love my daughters so much it makes my chest hurt!

Man I totally agree. I'm still haunted by that woman who drown her kids in the bathtub. I think this crime really gets to us because we instinctively remember our vulnerability and who nurtured us. It is horrific.

If you can't handle it, why expose yourself to it?
This is just what some people do.
Others kill adults. Is that any better?
It's always been happening and will continue to happen.
We can't stop the killing any more than we can stop the breeding of killers.

Many life forms kill their own.
We just happen to be intelligent enough to create a moral belief system
which tells us this is wrong.
We're advanced enough to create smart bombs,
yet dumb enough to think we should.

We have governmental control over most of our actions in life
but refuse to take control of life itself.
We assume responsibility only after the act, if at all.
Procreation of our species is absurdly uncontrolled.
If you think this is a radical idea,
imagine if we treated crime with the same lack of control.
Would you trust a surgeon who has no proof of experience or training?
How about a pilot?
Yet parents are not required by law to be educated in parenting.
How radical is that?

Definitely turn off the news. I developed clinical depression because of it.
