I have taken down a row of 10-12 "lathed" spindles from a banister, and I hate to throw them away, because they are beautiful. I have been looking at them for a week or so trying to think of a project to do with them, but I am kind of stumped! Anyone who has done anything interesting with spindles?

I have thought about building some type of table and using them for legs, but it seems pretty lame..... Cmon Yahoo! Community, help me out!

I have seen candle holders made out of these. You have to cut the top so a candle will fit into them, and add a base so they will have a foot to sit on. You can cut them to different heights so the candles are staggered. I have seen them painted and decorated with evergreen as a runner down the middle of the table. You can change the looks of them by changing the color and decorations.

I think a table would be nice - or a fern stand. I think you could make some sort of head/foot board for a bed. If you don't get any good ideas, take them to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Do you have an exterior patio/deck or garden? Maybe build a small border around it with the spindles? Of course treat them for exterior elements first.
