God provides an answer for everything in the bible. Stop thinking of the time line, & start thinking about how it can be applied to all life. If you reada fictional book, don't you do the same thing? You learn the lessons from the book and apply it to everyday life. Is it not a quote (paraphrased) from Teddy Rosevelt that learning from our past can teach us the mistakes of yesterday so that we can fix today? How much more with the Bible & today's society.

When the bible was written, the men who wrote the bible could not have forseen the modern ethical issues that we are dealing with now a days. Men wrote the bible not God. Even if the bible is inspired by God it was still written by men who could not see the future and who are fallable.

Thank you for the examples :)
The point is that the bible is not just a book of laws, but a book of principles. It's actually one of its beauties that it was designed to survive the ages because you can find something that applies to almost every situation if you take the time to look.
Identity fraud: Leviticus 13:19 ... though shall not defraud your fellow man. Pretty simple.
For MAGLEY: You might not find a law on internet dating but you will find guidance that tells us that we should be "cautious as serpents, yet innocent as doves"; we're also told to be careful about our associations both of which would be more than applicable in that context. Cellphone overages: Probably covered under the "don't take unfair advantage of the poor one" principle.
You got me on the genetic modification one.

Depends which religion you are. The Talmud (Judaism) is a massive work with many volumes, and it covers all sorts of situations, predicaments, rulings, discussions, by learned Jews and Rabbis.

The Bible doesn't go into detail about every little thing, it gives us principles to live by. Based on those principles, we're supposed to make good choices and know what to do and what not to do.

Because, when man made up this work of fiction to control the masses it was a different time in history.

"Do for others as you would have others do for you"
That is dynamic and can be applied on the fly to any situation.
