When the media let loose the information of the Mayan calendar ending on 2012 many religious groups have jumped on the preverbial band wagon.
When this was first released, anthropologists and archeaologists tried to find out why they stopped at 2012. The conclusion came when a broken calendar was unearthed near another temple site that looked like it had ceremoniously been broken and laid to rest at the foot of it. The calendars ran consecutive per 500+ yrs. The last calendar to be in continued existance was discovered at a dig with several things from the Spanish conquistadors of the 1600 and 1700's. There is documentation of a monk that was in observance of the construction of the Calendar in the late 1600's and made comments of it's meanings by the natives. They did not have a prophecy of the world ending or anything to that nature it is just when they observed when a new calendar will need to be added due to possible enviromental changes and social and religious monarchy changes.
You can go to Mexico City and see the Mayan calendar and all of the new finds they had found under the City from an earthquake in 1985.
All the different natives of Central America had something similar and none were the same as the next. Some had 36 yr calendars, 200 yr calendars, and some like the one in the central temple in Teotihuacan. They based it on where they lived and the astrological signs they observed.
Just remember this, believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see and always read between the lines. Then do research for the truth.
Pass it on.

I didn't realize Christians were basing their predictions on the Aztec calendar now. Way to incorporate other religions. In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, the ancient Aztec calendar ends at 2012, and for a long time, doomsday people have said that that's the year the world will end. Gobbelty-****, says I. (lol, I didn't realize that g o o k was considered a swear word.....well, it is a racial slur, but not when preceeded by Gobbelty....but anyway....:P ) After all, if the Aztecs were so smart, why aren't they still around? And, oh yah, I'm not a Christian, but don't forget about that bible verse that says something like, "No man knows when the master comes." I'd say, even if Jesus *does* exist (I'm an atheist), it's a bit presumptuous to predict the exact date of his return. Somehow I doubt this'll make best answer ;)

Not even Jesus knows the date of His return. The only thing we know is that this time He Will Come As The Judge. No one knows because God has not informed anybody!
So, the above is nothing but speculation... The funny thing is that men hear things from many different sources but some strongly avoid The Real And Concrete One: The Word of God!
By the way, how many of us are ready for Jesus' return? Instead of speculating people should start thinking about their attitudes...

Astronomers have seen the faster than light signature of the Borg spacecraft heading towards earth. They will acheive orbit on August 12, 2012 and 9:53:27 am GMT. Resistance is futile--prepare to be assimilated

Someone misunderstood the Mayan calender which ends a 500 year time "block" in 2012. they thought the calender actually ran out of days on dec12, 2012 (i think) which had to mean that is when the world would end.

2012 comes from the Mayan calendar, which recycles in the year 2012 - something akin to a new millenium on our calendar. Many people interpret that as the Mayan calendar "ending" and thus meaning the end of the world. Somehow, because of their big stone temples, hyperaccurate astronomical knowledge, and accurate annual calendar, people give credit to this idea.

You can think of it as the year 2000 mania all over again.

both the Mayan and Aztec calender ends at Dec. 21 2012. this has been said to be the "recycling of the earth" but what most people don't know is that the first civilization on earth started the calender. they are known as the ancient Sumerians. they were the first to have written languages, mathematical skills, governments, precise knowledge of space..etc. they lived about 7,000 years ago after the last great ice age. they wrote about our solar system before we were able to see it ourselves through technology to find out they were 100% aaccurate about size, color, orbital patterns, etc. they also wrote about an extra planet called "Nubiru" (translated into.."the planet of the crossing"..drawn as a cross in their diagrams of our solar system) this planet, was written to have a 3,600 year orbit around our sun and the other nearest solar system. how did they know all of this? they said it was taught to them by the "Anunaki" (those who are from heaven come to earth) its written.. the Anunaki are from the planet Nubiru and it has been written, thousands of years ago, that they will return again. the origins of many of the stories of the bible come from the Sumerian writings.. 7 tablets of creation..the story of Noah's ark..etc. the anunaki were described as giants and their were many writings of giants even in the bible.

This was said because Jesus scheduled an appointment using Microsoft Outlook. He is not living with us currently, since he is vacationing in the Horsehead Nebulae this winter

Anyways Jesus Crist isn't coming on that day. The bible says that no one really knows when he is coming, only God knows. The day is coming like a theif.

That is probably a lie, he could come anytime. That date is probably a no, because at least some people are expecting that day.
