I worry about chemistry differences. I think because this one girl tried recommending me to go on something that I had already taken once and it made me feel bad. But she swore by it.

I think it would depend on you as a person rather than just your gender. I don't know about anxiety meds specifically, but anti-depressants would be similar I'm assuming, and that's how it seems to be with them - what works well for one person, doesn't for another. Doctors will prescribe one and monitor how you go, and change if necessary.

This is a better question for a doctor or pharmacist, but I've suffered with anxiety problems for a long time and have a male friend who suffers also. When we've compared notes, there hasn't been an appreciable difference in what we could and couldn't tolerate. (For example: neither of us could tolerate Celexa.)

Lots of the SSRI drugs in particular make people feel really bad. I think that's more an issue of individual body chemistry and proper dosage for weight, etc. than it is of gender.

they all work different from person to person. if that med didn't work for you, try another.
