The simple answer is that it slowly formed from the ditritus of The Big Bang.
The state of the Earth today is completely random, and could have easily been destroyed during the early phases. It is thought, for example, that early on in the formation, a Mars-sized object smashed into the Earth and sheared off a chunk off our planetary matter now known as the Moon. It could have destroyed the Earth.
We have beaten extraordinary odds to be here today, but I can assure you that this is haphazard luck.

As the sun coalesced into a ball, there came to be whirlpools in the spinning disc of matter. Once a small lump formed, it had enough gravitational attraction to grow larger, until it basically served as a sweeper and gathered up enough material to cool together as a ball. It had to be a ball, because that's the nature of the laws of motion and gravitation that it was obeying.

Just like every other planet is created... in gas cloud called, Nebula.
We see extra-solar planets being created everyday. Ours was no different.

If you believe in "magic" God snapped his fingers and the world leaped into existance 6,000 years ago. If you believe in natural law, the solar system was formed via the condensation of an interstellar gas cloud billions of years ago via the force of gravity. No one can tell you which to believe, that choice is yours.

God created all the universes through an evolutionary design. He had his hand in it, but evolution is an unfolding process which takes time. It didn't happen in 7 days.

God spoke earth into existance...even science can't disprove that, just like science can't prove the big bang theory...otherwise it wouldn't be call a "Theroy".
