She wrote the wine brand down, as pinot grigot.
When i went to the local wine market, they only had pinot grigio. Is there a difference, or is this an alternative spellling?

Pinot grigio is the wine. Its made from the pinot gris grape and is most famous from the north of Italy though other countries make a pinot grigio such as US. Australia and Chile.
The one you have chosen is very expensive in my poor person opinion - if I had money like that to spend on wine personally I would be buying a louis latour chablis.
You can get a good pinot grigio for far less money. This wine isnt considered a 'good' wine - just an easy drinking wine and I've put below a review of it. In the review he mentions some labels for this wine that he found the best - maybe you could take those names down and march into the wine shop and see what price they are?
Hope that helps
EDIT:
I just realised that the price in your link is for a CASE! £6 is perfect for this wine...I thought it was like £40 for a bottle!

You friend wrote the name down incorrectly. It is Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris depending on the country where it is produced.

I like brands like Luna Vineyards, King Estate for Pinot Grigio.

Pino grigio is the name of a grape, so I would say your friend just made a mistake with her spelling

its an easy wine to drink, nice and light. I like the odd glass or 2, but I prefer red wine, but its just personal preference

Of the pink wines merlot and pinot dry are particularly dry. Cabernet sauvignon has a tendency to be dryer. Very dry Bordeaux wines are in many situations created from a mix of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, and merlot grapes. Going from sweeter wines to dry isn't unavoidably difficulty-free to transition. Burgundy wines alongside with Beaujolais or consistent with risk an italian Chianti are a competent stepping stones while you at the instant are not used to dry wines.
