If you read the Bible, it talks in Luke 5 about several people (including Mary Magalene) who supported Jesus' ministry through regular gifts given to him. It appears they were people who had been healed or blesed by him and his teachings, so they supported him with their gifts. No different then how most full time preachers are supported today.
If you read the Bible, you will find that Paul told the church in Corinths to take a collection every Sunday at their meetings. No different then how most churches are supported today.
Did Jesus "charge" for his sermons? No. But he did receive financial support from those he preached to and healed.

Dude,
The big J packed the house way before even the Who and made large bank. He'd roll up on his tricked up donkey, give a 4 hour show, and head back to the tent for some quality one on one time with Mary Magdalene; a well known courtier of that era. All the while his boys were selling t-shirts, icons, sandals, the whole deal. It was a pretty good gig until Judas sold him out to the Romans because he wasn't paying them royalties. You know, render unto Caesar and all that.
Even 2000 years later, the Jesus kitsch trade is big business, and it all started so modestly with just a dozen guys and a big idea.

Jesus never stayed at home. He had a lot of rich women supporting him and providing a pad where to spend the nights!
Luke 8:1-3 NIV) After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and MANY OTHERS*. THESE WOMEN WERE HELPING TO SUPPORT THEM OUT OF THEIR OWN MEANS.
Mark 16:40-41 (NIV) Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him AND CARED FOR HIS NEEDS. MANY OTHER WOMEN* who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
(*)MANY OTHER WOMEN... so Jesus was quite a popular good wine drinking playboy! His first miracle was to change water into wine!
Jesus was accused of being a wine drinker and friend of prostitutes and sinners. He loved to have his feet extensively kissed by a prostitute at a party where the prostitutes were also invited.
Luke 7:45 (NIV) You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet.
Let's face it! Jesus was just another human being like any of us, except that he knew how to be particularly nice to the ladies playing the role of God going around forgiving sins! Hey, who doesn't feel guilty about anything?

In a Catholic church, you do no longer could desire to pay a cent. A small donation to the priest is, notwithstanding, hassle-unfastened - 20 money for weddings and 5 for baptisms. yet make no mistake - it is by no skill required.

Well, free I guess...
The Bible says he didn't have a home, so I guess he didn't need to cover mortgage or anything. People did invite him to dinner a lot, though. In fact, he got in trouble for eating and drinking with "those people" who were not considered that good of people.

Jesus said: "You received free, give free". At most he and his disciples might have been offered a meal or a place to sleep while travelling throughout the region.

He preached and healed for free. The Televangilists are false prophets using God to get money for themselves.
