Come on now would anyone actually name their kid Gates? She says her kids name is Jack whom she gave birth to during season two of the next generation. Think about it. Some kind of actor protection program. Cirroc I might believe, for a black guy with the possibility of African parents. Armin has to be short for something.

Anyone remember Alexander Siddig "Bashier" on DS9. A muslim, real name: Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig El Abderahman El Mohammed Ahmed El Abdel Karim El Mahdi.

Siddig was born in Sudan, and spent most of his life in England. Born to an English mother who worked as a theatrical consultant[1] and a Sudanese father. Siddig describes himself as being a Muslim.[2] His maternal uncle is English actor Malcolm McDowell, and his paternal uncle is the former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. He studied at St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate. He was credited under the shortened name Siddig El Fadil until October 1995 (three seasons into his run on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), when he changed his stage name to Alexander Siddig, as he thought it would be less confusing and easier to pronounce by American tongues. In 1997, Siddig married his co-star Nana Visitor; they had a son, Django El Tahir El Siddig, who was born in 1996. Siddig and Visitor eventually divorced in 2001. In 2005 he was briefly involved with his Whose Life Is It Anyway? co-star Kim Cattrall.[3]

I felt this was a simple step in the right direction.

Well, not everyone can have names like John Smith.

What about William Shatner? Why don't you find that strange? It would be a very strange name indeed in some countries.

Armin is a common name btw depending on where you are from.

others have given the simple answer.

It could also be that it is their identity online or on other games. To make it easier on themselves the name was just used in this game as well.

Could also be their nicknames or combination of their names (nana-grandma, deforest-Dean Forest, Armin is a first name etc)

It simple and quite reasonable. Star Trek is all about another planet other than earth. So they might have different language and names.

Because those are common names on other planets. Did you think they were Earth actors playing aliens? How naive.
