We like to let our dogs have alot of outside time when the weather is nice..well in the summer flies can be an issue...especially when you live on a farm like we do... What do you do to prevent fly bites on the ears?
We use fly predators to help keep the fly population down and also use the oil based fly spray we put on our horses on their ears... we spray it in the palm of our hands and rub it into the ear...
just curious what others do to help with or prevent this issue

we have been pretty successful at keeping them pretty bite free but from time to time you can see that the flies found a way... we keep the horse manure cleaned up pretty well on our property...and do dog poo patrol 3-4 times a week... but we have a HUGE cattle farm (3000 cattle) near us so flies are just something we have to expect....
we frontline onces a month...we fog our yard once a week... have fly bait where it can be safely... but those little boogers seem to find a way.... sure we could keep our dogs inside all the time but we have sighthounds and they love to stretch their legs and relax in the sun....
our anatolian never gets bothered by the flies...not sure if it is because her ears do not stand or if it is just something about the breed... she spends most of her days and nights outside with the foals

oh yeah...gotta love the bronco spray...cheap stuff and works great....
horse sprays really do work wonders on preventing the flies..and they do not smell to bad either...some condition the coat..ads a beautiful shine haha...
we have an entire store of products in our shed...and I rotate... I have however never tried the roll on stuff...always thought it would be a pain in the a** to roll that stuff on a 1200lb horse... i suppose it is meant for the face and hard to spray areas

Bronco Spray. Horse and dog spray that is available at the tractor supply stores. Also, Flys Off in the roll on works great too.

Here in Georgia we have a pest control called "Do it yourself pest control" and their producst inlcude many chemicals for bugs, spiders, flead, ticks..ect
One product in particular is called Perethrin. It has 69% more than your average flea spray that only contains about 12% Perethrin.
Buy that spray with 69% and use it on your dog just don;t get it in the eyes. The fleas and ticks will die instantly. The risidual is somewhere around three to five weeks.
I spray my Hound dogs once a month and they have never scratched again.
It does wonders, but it also is very powerful and it doesn;t take much. Just a few sprays arounf the back and the ears and belly and tail. That's it.

Go to Tractor Supply or another store that carries horse products. There is a fly wipe and spray that really works great. I cant remember the name right off the top of my head. I'm sure there are several brands that would help. I wipe my dogs down and then spray the kennel. Works too.

There are several products you can use but the one that works for me here is called Fly's off or another is called Shield! You can find these 2 things at a good farm supply store of at Tractor supply like St. Lady mentioned.

Don't have a problem with flies, but for mosquitos I've been using a product made for horses by Absorbine, called Supershield Green. It works really well, is water based and smells like lavender and pine and conditions the coat, too.
Years ago, one of my afghans was scented and flies and mosquitos really went for him - I rubbed orange peel on him and that worked, too.

local petstore or farm supply store, there is this product called FLYS OFF. it works great, there is a can u could just spray it on, or this little container that u put the paste on their ears. i'd go with the paste. it stays on there longer.

We always used Super Shield Green (by Absorbine). If you buy the concentrate you can mix it stronger. It is water based and herbal so reapply as needed.
If the flies are horrendously bad, I use the Super Shield Red.
