Just reading the pages here, how many poor dogs are laboring, delivering or have pups stuck inside? Does this make you as sick as it makes me? Those poor dogs with owners that never took the time to learn or save for emergencies. And this is just on YA. How many suffering dogs and pups must go through this before people see the harm they cause?

I am sickened by the sheer number of "owned pets" that are neglected in so many ways!!!! Left to whelp on their own, left to suffer mange on theri own, try and survive parvo at home, live through a HBC on their own, left to have diarrhea for WEEKS.........and these are "loved" companions!!!!!!!! People say how awful it is for dogs to linger in Shelters!!! Well, they seem to have it a LOT better than a lot of the pets belonging to people on here!!!!! If this is just a sample of pets owners out there, there are a TON of pets suffering at the hands of LAZY and neglectful owners!!!!!!!!!!!

I realize that if the dog is pregnant and about to deliver, there isn't much you can do to change that fact, but what I am constantly horrified by is that so many people come on here wanting answers to questions about whelping. I mean, why would you NOT see your vet to make sure you have some idea about what to expect? Maybe get a good book? Anything to self educate so you can be some kind of prepared?

I feel for these poor dogs. Sadly, not everyone's dog has whelping and puppy raising issues, so they think it won't happen to them ever.

Too many to count. The owners are the ones who don't believe in spaying or neutering, or the people who want "just one litter so we can have a puppy to remember Fido by". Leaving dogs intact will do more harm than good. The shelters will be overloaded even more than they already are. And it's not fair to the dogs, either, letting them live with the high cancerous risks.

it is sad

we had an emergency c-section 2 weeks ago...

I did however contact my vet 2 days in advance and reminded her that our girl was due to have pups... We kinda had a heads up there might be an issue because her mother had a c-section and her grandmother had 2 pups and her uterus shut down..our girl had 4 pups with assistance from our vet and then she shutdown as well and cute little baby #5 was c-sectioned

You have to be willing and ready to provide that care to your beloved pet..or you should not take on having a litter.

Way too many, unfortunately. It's a shame that people don't know enough to educated themselves before allowing a breeding to happen or intentionally breeding when they have no idea there are so many things to consider before doing so. It's a shame that many of these ignorant people don't even realize what they are doing and will just turn around and breed again thinking that it won't happen again. It's too irritating to think about.

Yup I know what you mean. I know absolutely NOTHING about breeding dogs, so that's why I take every step possible to prevent my dogs from reproducing - it's called neutering lol My young puppy is too young, but as soon as he's old enough, he's going in for an overnight vacation to the vet :)

Unfortunately, those causing the harm will probably never see it for what it is,cruelty.
They think that because they "own" the animal they can do as they wish with it.
Just as these ones who tie their dogs out on a 5ft. long chain 24/7/365 in all kinds of weather don't think they are doing any wrong.

Sadly, a whole lot. These people will never get it through their thick skulls, and the dogs they claim to "love" are the ones who suffer. What a selfish and cruel world this is...

Here here St. Lady!! Unfortunately, I am beginning to believe that people will never truly realize the harm that they cause. Isn't it funny.....these people think spaying and neutering is cruel, but suffering through labor complications is not?

To many to even try to estimate St. Lady! It is a really horrible thing to even consider but the ignorance still is desplayed here each and every day.
Just makes me sad!
