I think contacts are great; but they are not for everyone. I use them riding a motorcycle, because there are no frames to obstruct your vision.
Optically, they are probably not quite as good as glasses; but they will still give you 20/20 vision.

It takes a little practice to get them in and out; and your optometrist will teach you; but you still need to practice. It took me a few weeks before I got the knack. They might feel a little uncomfortable at first, but your eye adjusts after a few minutes, and you forget they are there.

Sometimes I have more trouble getting them out than in, as you have to 'pinch', them out of your eye. For the first few tries, your eyes may get a little sore, but only for a minute or so.

If you get 'one use' contacts, overall they will be a little more expensive than glasses; but the convenience factor puts them miles ahead. I've never used the multi-use type. Both types are made of light flexible plastic; a little like thick clear plastic food wrap (but of course, a lot more techno than that).

If you DO get contacts, you will probably want to have a set of glasses as well, for those times when you don't have the time to fiddle with your contacts.

Many people believe that contact lenses are better then eye glasses. Mostly becuase it gives you a more natural look. Also your vision is more natural eliminating the peripheral issues that eyeglasses sometimes have. The one characteristic that eyeglasses have that is better then contacts is that they are not directly in contact with the eye. The eye has a tendency to flush out any foreign objects that come in contact with it, usually the eye has to get use to the foreign obejct. Also, your eyes are more susceptible to infection since the contact itself can have debris or residue on it if not properly maintained.

Putting contact in and out does take some practice but once you are use to it it is relatively simple and should definitley be painless.

Contact lens prices vary depending on the type of contact you need or are fitted for. To compare prices of different brands visit http://www.contactlensking.com . They are very competitively priced.

Contacts are essentially molded plastic with different parameters to meet the different shape and size eyes out there.

If you do decide to get contact lenses try to follow the following steps in order to avoid any infection etc.

1. Probably the single most important task to do before handling contact lenses is to properly wash and rinse your hands. Hands are used to handle many different objects through out the course of a day; therefore they are incredibly susceptible to debris and germs. If your hands have debris or germs they could contaminate your lenses or worse yet your eyes. It is important to also rinse your hands after washing them in order to avoid any soap residue from rubbing off on to your contact lenses.
2. It is important to use the appropriate solution when rinsing your contact lenses. Follow the instructions carefully while cleaning and rinsing your lenses, some solutions require different steps.
3. When you are done using your contact lenses it is important to make sure that your contact lens case/container is free of any debris. Fill the case with the recommended disinfectant solution in order to kill any microorganisms that could be on your lenses. By following this last step you could avoid any risk of eye infection.

Contact lenses are made of soft silicone...they are inserted into the eye by placing them on the index finger with the concave side upward and raising them to touch the cornea...to remove hold the eyelids open and grasp the lens with opposing digits...

Contact lenses, depending on the brand and quality, are generally cheaper than eyeglasses...it won't hurt your eyes but it can irritate them...also, it can easily harbor microorganisms if you're not keen enough to clean/disinfect it...

personally, i suggest that you opt for glasses...it's reliable, safe, and easy to put on...and it won't cause any potential damage to your eyes...

For the price of one eye treatment that's your ticket to Havana, pal !
Hasta la vitoria siempre !
Cuba is absolutely the best for all medical treatments !
And about the only country left in the world where the government fully funds all medical students.
